New (used) truck, Superchips, and other items!

Hello all. This is my first post in this forum. I have been reading here for a while and have gained some valuable info on the 2004-2006 F150s. I have owned a 2002 Supercrew 4x4 and just recently went from a 2004 F250 6.0 diesel 4x4 Lariat Crewcab to a 2005 F150 Supercrew Lariat 4x4. I bought the truck used with 12,500 miles. It has the 5.4 V8, 3.73 LS rearend, tow package, leather seats with console shifter, etc. It is solid green with tinted windows and a Line-X liner. I have added a bug deflector, Westin step bars, and NAPA premium ceramic brake pads on the front brakes (tired of brake dust already). I could not believe how well this truck rides and how good of gas mileage it gets. I have already put on over 1000 miles and am getting about 18 mpg on the interstate and about 14.5-15 mpg around town.

While the truck has plenty of power, I decided to see what the Superchips Flashpaq tuner could do for me. I received it today and installed it this afternoon on just the 87 Octane setting as I still have about 3/4 of a tank of 87 gas to run out before refilling with 92 octane. I know that this setting only changes the shift points but what a difference it made. It is so much more fun to get down on it now and it does not seem to hang up as long when trying to shift out of O/D now. It only took about 10 minutes to load and was extremely easy to do. I thought about going with Troyer Performances custom tunes that everyone on here raves about and I am sure they are well worth the money and Mike seems to know his stuff, but since my truck does not have any other performance mods like air intake, exhaust, etc. I figured this box tuner would work just as well for me. I trade trucks about every 12-15 months due to the amount of miles that I put on them for work so $385 for the tuner is about all that I plan to put into performance mods. I just wanted something to wake this truck up just a little more and it's nice to surprise people at stop lights every once in a while with a truck that looks and sounds stock but can flat out get up and run. I guess that is still the little boy in me that refuses to grow up.

Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself (and my truck) and compliment the Flashpaq tuner. Also, to anyone considering ceramic pads, all I can say is do it. The stopping is much better and the brake dust is almost nonexistent so far. Thanks for all the info that you guys provide on this forum.

Later,
SCScrew

Welcome to the forum and you are correct............... ceramic pads work better and save your wheels from all that black dust.
