Thats what I get for Bragging

The other night 04procomp started a thread about gettin his first ticket in his f150. Of course I bragged about how i havent gotton a ticket yet. Well, sure enough, i got a ticket today for 12 over. Just my luck. The cop was a real ***** too. He was like 5'4 on a motor cycle. Oh well i guess thats what i get for bragging. If only i wouldn't have let my mom borrow my radar detector for her damn trip!

Yeah... fancy that. Don't be a dolt and run 10+ over the posted speed limit and you don't get a ticket. Interesting concept eh?

Not that I've never been pulled over nor am I the best when it comes to staying out of the pedal.... but, when you play, you have to be willing to pay.

It's that simple. The OP, in my opinion, takes this approach and realizes that he just got caught with his pants down. The secondary post thereafter is just ridiculous...

I hate those damn motorcycle cops.

the same thing happened to me when i got my ticket. I was joking with my friends after I got my lift that it would be funny to see a cop pull me over and come up to my window and Id have to look down at him. That same night I got a stop sign ticket.

Or the ticket comes from being in the wrong town, or driving the wrong car.

I've had two speeding tickets in my life. One for 56 in a 55 zone, on Highway 395 in Adelanto.
It is possible I was doing 56 as the needle on my old Firebird was just wide enough to cover two or three numbers.
Yep, one mile over. Said it on the ticket, the sergeant who wrote me explained that he didn't like 'souped up' cars.

The other for 45 in a 35 zone. Also in Adelanto California.
The 45 was bogus.
I was doing about 25 in a 35 zone and this antique Plymouth blasted around me, and then cut off down a dirt road. The cop nailed me, had the radar report to prove it. I was in second gear in a big Dodge Powerwagon and was running slow looking for an address. The cop smelled of cheap whiskey and was staggering. Ticket cost 26 bucks, and it would have cost me 100 to take a day off to fight it.

My wife's last ticket was for 60 on the 101 Freeway in Ventura. Speed limit was 55, everyone else was doing about 80. We were driving slowly because my wife was sorta afraid of the Vette.
The CHP lighted her and pulled her over. I asked why he was ticketing her as we were the slowest car on the road. The cop said that people who drive Corvettes should be banned from the road... To fight it would have meant a trip of 300 miles so she just paid the 75 bucks.

The average car on the LA freeway system hits 80 mph every trip. The cops just pull over the really fast ones, or the ones in cars they don't like. No effort is made in Southern California to even pretend the laws apply to everyone.

I have been nailed twice on the way to work through Boulder County. One of the pickiest? places for speeding. One was a 5 over and one was for 9 over.

man you guys are good drivers. I can think of about 21 times i've been pulled over in the last 6 years off the top of my head. 11 of those resulted in tickets. 7 of them were moving violations, 6 of which were speeding. good thing is I've only had one ticket in the f150 for no front tag

I got a ticket in my last truck as I was in the process of moving from AZ to CA, it was a '98 V6 2wd that had about 900 Lb's of stuff including a full size fridge in the bed standing upright.

I got pulled over by a cop on Hwy 60 going thru the twisties, I had a black GTO blow by me then slam on his brakes when he saw the cop car on the side of the road. I actually was joking to my friend who was riding with me as we saw the cops head pop up in his cruiser that the Goat was going to get busted.

Nope, the cop pulled into traffic right behind me and told me I was doing 85 MPH around the corner. I tried pointing out the obvious, fully loaded truck, tight corner, I am not Michael Schumacher, he didn't care. At the time this ticket was given right in between where I was moving from and moving to, so 200 miles from anything. Between having nothing to back me up and having to take a day off of work , do a 400 mile round trip to fight the ticket and probably lose I ate it, but it still chaps my hide.

Some cops are jerks, period. Most are great people doing a hard job and I respect that, but the CHP can't eat my shorts for all the safety they provide.

Also, ChrisAdams, dude, you do not hit 85 MPH in rush hour on the 405, you're lucky to hit 8 MPH. But I hear you, cops here seam to look for excessive lane changes, which makes sense. But red light running, HOV lanes serving as passing lanes regardless of the entry & exit points, etc is just common fare and really annoying.

driving the speed limit doesn't always help. they usually find something else to get me for (ex: going through unavoidable water puddle).

Haven't heard of that one before. I got pulled over for doing 6 - 7 over. Cop said, "you came over dat hill doin 76 - 77 in the 70 zone, then we dropped down to the 60 zone and you was doing 66."
All I got was a "show me sum more respect son," after he ran my license and found that I've never gotten a ticket before.
