little blinking light?

I was driving around last night and my wife ask me what was blinking inside my steering colum. It was a red LED down inside the lower left area that is open for steering wheel adjustment. Im always curious when I see things that seem out of place. Has anyone else ever seen this/know what it could be?

2006 FX4 S-Cab. I had a 2005 STX and never noticed it in that one.

Can you take a picture? Do you have a remote start system or after-market car alarm?

Yeah I have a Astro Start remote start. The only reason I wouldn't think that is because it was in my other truck as well and never noticed it there. I guess there could be a slight difference in where the compoenents were reinstalled. Its really faint, so I don't think a picture would show.

ok. So my wife was driving today and I saw that damn light again, however there was a little more I noticed. When she stepped on the gas the LED sped up and when the truck was slowing down so did the LED. I'd have to see if i could get a video of it.

The only thing I could think of is that its some how wired to the tach.

Wow, I just realized that the remote start is wired to the tach so the engin doesn't blow up. I guess I answered my own question by remembering what I read in the user manual a long time ago.

I'll post this just for anyone else who might experience this.

Well be glad your wire wasn't hooked to the injector wire like mine.
You would not believe the massive coronary FORD had when they saw this (Circuit City hooked it up and its the exact same way FORD hooks their remote starters up) during the course of replacing my engine in my 2005 truck.
