Angry Harley Grille Frustration!!

Hey, just wanna vent a little frustration. Finally after sitting on the fence for a while i hopped off and went down to Boyer Ford, local dealership, and ordered me up a harley grille. Retail $460, was able to get it for $315 cuz my dads work has an account with that dealership. They guy said the computer says that the grille now lists as paint to match...? Thought they all came black but whatever. So i ordered it up and went to pick it up tuesday, suprise it was painted black but had two nice big scratches!! Said he could knock off $15 bucks ha ha ha. So i rejected it and had a new one ordered. Went to pick it up today, opened the box and this one looked worse, almost like it was dropped right in the middle of the grille, big gouge and scratches. Guy said he would talk to his body dept. to see if theyd fix it for me, cuz chances are its not gunna get better because all the replacement grilles are basically factory seconds, that didn't get installed on trucks for a reason...???? Another guy argued for me that if he was paying that much for a grille that it should come perfect. So he said he would talk to his body dept and see that they said. Well they just called me and said they are going to order another one! Must have cost too much to fix, who knows.... Well anyway, i pick a new one up tomorrow, wish me luck. Hopefully third times a charm!!! I'll keep you guys posted.

Wow! What a discount A whole 15 bucks off a damaged grill usually worth close to $500. Get real! I hope the next one turns out OK.

Yeah, I guess the computer said paint to match but it came painted black. Maybe because the new 2007 harley color they added they all dont come black from now on, and are just getting rid of old stock first???? I was originally was going to buy off ebay but what a pain it woulda been if it arrived the way these did from the factory.

Two others had the same problem with scratches. From the eBay dealer's feedback...

OEM Grille. Slightly scratched. Got most out w/buffing. Mediocre Packaging.

By that logic all spare parts are factory seconds then.

Yeah im not too sure he knew what he was talking about....Ford sure aint selling them at factory second prices!! The same guy also asked if it was even a scratch and thought it could be buffed out. The damge looked as if the grille was dropped face down on cement... big gouge in the center bout the size of my pinky nail and deep scratches surrounding it.

feel your pain...beginning of the summer I wanted harley headlights for 06 screw so I ordered them from a local dealer. Three sets from the dealer ALL cracked or broken. Told them I was all set. Now I dont have harley heads because I felt quality control was horrible and didnt want to even try again. good luck

You are my neighbor I see, I live in Shoreview. I get all my Ford OEM and FRPP parts at Tousley Ford. They sell to anyone 10% over cost, and ship to the entire country. I got my Harley grill there for $285 and it was in perfect condition. Call Tousley parts and ask for Steve Powell and he will hook you up.

Well seems like third times a charm!! Got my grille today in mint condition. Just about to install it in 5 min here.
Yeah Tousley is a great place, thats where i bought my truck from. They were all very friendly and very helpfull. Aside from the price, im sure they pull inventory from the same wharehouse so i would be basically damned if i do and damned if i dont.
