newbie with question?

hey everyone, i just got my first truck just over a week ago and i love it. i got a 05 XLT 2wd 4.6L supercab. I wish it was the 5.4 and 4x4 but i couldnt pass up this deal. now on with the questions.

before i get the responses to use the search i have used the search but cant get any solid answers.

1. What is the biggest tire /wheel combo i can fit with out and modification. mabye just some minor trimming. 33's? i hope

2. any recommendations on exhaust. i want something deep and throaty but i want minimal cab noise/highway drone.

3.if theres ne info u wanna give a young man like my self on this vehicle feel free to share

Welcome, I don't have many posts, and I have a 5.4, but I like my Magnaflow. It is loud at startup and around 2000 rpm. That is the best help I can give you, but you should wait for better advice, honestly. Welcome to the site, and be prepared to spend some money on MODs, these guys will help you out!!

not sure what rims you have on your trucks but otherwise the biggest i was able to get for mine without rubbing was 265 75 R17's

as for exhuast.. i have the series 40 flowmaster but i think that'd be to loud .. i'd say hit up your local muffler shop and tell them what your after..

heres pics of my truck with tires and exhuast

o and welcome to the site.

Cheers!

I can't tell you what exhaust to buy, but I can tell you what to avoid.
I have a Flowmaster 40 series on my 4.6, sounds great but defineatly has the dreaded drone in the cab.
A lot of people in here (including myself) have taken out the silencer located inside the intake tube and added a drop in K&N style air cleaner.
I noticed a defineate increase in hp after doing all three. It "pulls" harder when jumping on it.

I recently put a Magnaflow on my truck and it sounds awesome. It has a deep rumble, my Flows on my last truck droned real bad at all speeds and were too loud and raspy by the time I sold it.

33's are going to be the biggest you can run even with a leveling kit. But even with a leveling kit you have to have the right size wheel with the correct amount of backspacing. The factory wheels are 7.5" or 8" wide with 5.5" of backspacing.

if you want something that is quieter but can make some noise get borla.. I had that on my 98 with the 4.6 and liked the sound. I now have an 05 withthe 5.4 and LOVE the roush exhuast. Just dont buy cheap flowmasters, they are junk. BTW the borla was the single side.

I wouldn't go as far as calling Flowmasters "junk", thats just not true. Maybe a Flowmaster knock off...

The reason I said they were junk is that they didn't hold up on my mustang... and i hardly drive it, only like 3000 miles a year and they rusted through at the hanger. I like the idea of the stainless steel.... LOVED the sound though but the SLP loud mouths are down right mean at full throttle.

Yeah...I guess if i lived in an area that actually has weather (snow, salt on the roads, rain etc) I would put a S/S muffler on as well.
