There has got to be a better way..

I want lift my truck and i've been lookin at these lift kits and i dont want to put that huge space on top of the strut. i would rather buy new coilovers with the spacer built in and adjustable. i'm havin trouble finding a kit that has them. the only one i saw is the skyjacker. and for the rear i wouldn't take out my two inch block and put in a 4". that's retarded. why wouldn't you just leave the stock block in and get an aal.

anyway let me get to the point. there has got to be a way to purshase the steering knuckles, sub-frames and a few other small components to lift my truck and use the coil-overs and the aal. it just seems sensless to spend $2000 on crap that i dont even want to use.

anyone ever thought about this?

Fabtech has the kit with coilovers like Josiah, I think Pro-Comp even has the coilover kit. What useless stuff are you refering to? The only other parts are the cross members and the hose extensions. I am pretty sure that everything in the kit is needed. Correct me if I am wrong.

ya know the guy with the dsg reg. cab who bent his his whole strut from the bolt on spacer? i'm just sayin i dont want that spacer i want coilovers and if you're payin for a 4" piece of metal that's gonna give you axle wrap then that's just retarded when you're half way there with your stock block you just need a $100 aal to get leveled with your front.

I can understand where you are coming from. I guess you could just get the coilver kit from Fabtech

Some come with a 5" block like mine. Don't take any offense to this but I'm probably pushing more pony's to the floor than most and running rather large tires to boot...axle wrap has not been a problem whatsoever except under acceleration in sand (Chris had some ***** or a deep pocket out at pismo to keep pushing it while hopping like a pogo stick ). If it is a problem you can get a link system for the rear (ala Rize) to prevent and allow for better wheel travel too (pointless when you're 1/2 IFS anyway, my 37's tuck entirely into the fender wells as it sits). Truth is, you more than likely will have no trouble with a block lift...almost all kits do this but you can always purchase a PC or Skyjacker AAL. AAL amount to a stiffer ride (only advantage to a block lift) but they're better suited to handle axle wrap (if you're pushing decent power they can have their axle wrap problems as well).

I am trying to find some traction bars for my truck. Sometimes I worry about my rear axle.

No ***** or deep pockets here when it comes to "hopping it like a pogo stick." More like, EXTENDED WARRANTY!

I am gonna get the CST lift for our trucks as soon as I have the money, maybe after I get my tax refund if it's $10k like I hope it's gonna be. It should be pretty big. Anyway, that's really the only lift I will consider. I have done a LOT of research and sure it costs a lot of $$ but I think its worth it, being that it uses its own UCA's, etc...

It will look great, and UCA's can be added for cheaper to another kit if looking to build a better quality kit with coilovers yourself...then again you can't really get 8 inches out of them like the CST's though...I've found the CST for 3200 at cheapest but correct me if wrong. I am just hoping the UCA's weren't the deciding factor, those are not a problem area like the steering rack seems to be. We had a big discussion examining the kit in another thread in what I recall to be the suspension forum but I could be wrong. Interesting read Chris!

u want coilovers i dont know why u are having a hard time finding them. fabtech and procomp make 6" suspension kits using new coilovers in the front not spacers. in the rear all the kits give u a block. ifu dont want a block in the rear then get new leafs instead. but the blocks will not be a problem honestly.

i was thinkin about this today and i seriously doubt that the companies would charge you or put in a part that you don't need. i would think they are adding parts to strengthen the frame of the truck to withstand the added stress...
