2004 scab, can i just bolt on a tow kit?

I wanna buy a tow kit for my truck... Well NEED to... Can I just go somewhere and buy a bolt on one? My bro did for his dodge and took him all of 30 mins to install. Is this possible for my truck?

Thanks

yes you can. there are plenty of manufacturers out there that sell aftermarket hitches. bolting one up doesnt take too long, its wiring the 4 way or 7 way depending on which one you want that takes the time.

Try to get a 'no drill' one if you can. I had a very heavy Valley Industries that required you drill six half inch holes in the frame. They as well as other makers, sell no drill types. Much easier.

It's all good... Got the info I was looking for. Now other question... Where can I get these kits locally? Like, what stores are likely to have them?

Thanks, again!

This is the hitch you want, just installed it on my new 06xl work truck Install took less than 30 min, it looks just like the oem one thats on my FX4 It uses all the factory holes & is held by 4 bolts. Its a class 3 trailer hitch with a towing capacity of 6,000 lbs and 10,000 with a weight distribution system.
It's a Valley brand hitch..

I bought the Ford factory hitch on ebay for 80 bucks, and bolted that on.

I like the factory parts.

This hitch is for the 2006 F150's only! It wont fit the 2004's. I bought my hidden hitch from www.etrailer.com for $150 bucks and also bought the 7 plug kit that just plugs right into your exsisting harness takes about 5 minutes to plug it in and another hour if your putting the hitch on by yourself.

Went to Uhaul and had them install one... Only $175 for a class 3 and lifetime warranty. Works for me.

One other thing to remember is what is included in the tow package from the factory. Wiring, heavy duty blinkers, hitch, and tranny cooler. If you are going to do some 5K or heavier towing, a tranny cooler would be a nice "insurance policy" to install against overheating. Just a thought.

its a photoshop... sorry guys. but thats pretty awesome you couldnt tell - i'm a graphic design major hahaha - so heres the scoop on how to get it. buy another HD grill and hack off the top 2 bars and bottom 2 bars. this was when the grill was only 160.. but if anyone feels generous or finds a cheap one let me know and i'll be perfectly happy to do the mods to it to make it work and chip in on the price of a cheap HD grill

I kinda thought you were gonna say it was a photo shop. Oh well. I'd thought about getting another HD grille to chop and fit down there, but not at the new price.
