Tires to SMALL???

Okay, this is opposite of most questions, but I need to know if these tires are too SMALL. I am going to use the Rancho 9000xxx to level the front. Doing that requires new rims, right {help me out here guys, I need your yes on that for the wife…. ] I like the MotoMetals 951 and want to go with the 17X9. Here is where the problem comes in. I want to stay with the Bridgestone Dueller AT REVO’s, but the largest size they make is 285/70/17. According to what I can find, this is about 32” in overall diameter. How will this look? Since I drive 70 miles or so a day, plus we are going into winter here in Chicago, if at all possible, I really want to stay with the REVO’s-best winter tire that I have found. If not, what size do I have to go with to balance things out? And what brand?

The 2nd question: Does the 2” leveling kit raise the highest point of the truck? I know the front will rise up, but it looks like the highest point is behind the “pivot” point, so the overall height should not increase…??? Some of the garages I park in, I am already tight, and could not afford to increase the overall height by very much.

2005 4x4 SuperCrew

Thanks for the help and covering me with the rims to the wife

Well not sure about the tires, but you MUST get new wheels or else it will never drive right with new tires and shocks...If you don't get new wheels and it rides like crap, don't say I didnt warn you.

The 285/70-17's are basically a 33x11.50 tire. They will look fine with a leveling kit and 17x9 inch wheels. Remember, as a general rule with the new 4x4's, you can fit 35's by using a leveling kit and the OEM wheels or 33's with a leveling kit and aftermarket wheels.

The guru has spoken: thanks Wandell. Now to work->this will give me something to do while waiting for Mike to get the Xcal2 programmed.

Brew,
Next time you hijack my thread, I'll bite! Of course, that is hard to do over the net. And on 2nd thought, you backed me up with the wife on the rims, so I guess that I'll have to let it go.....grrrrrrr

Question on the rim for Wandell

Wandell,
I guess that I should ask what backset/offset to get? -12mm offset and 4 1/2" backspace?

Bowser4x4, I'd want at least 5 inches of backspacing with 5.5 inches being just about perfect. A 17x9 with 4.5 inches of backspacing will stick out 2.5 inches farther than your OEM wheels.
