Sym-Tech Dealership Hard Sell
Sym-Tech Dealership Hard Sell
Hi...new to the forum although I have been a "guest" for awhile. I am taking delivery of a 2006 F150 4x4 Supercrew and one of the things being pushed by the dealership is a Sym-Tech Paint, Upholstery and rust proofing electronic gadget.
Does anyone have any experience with these products? Total cost if about $1000 for all three. Lifetime warranty for no rust, paint and upholstery.
Thanks.

It is one of those "extended products" the dealerships sell through their finance department to try and make more money off of you before you sign the papers on your new vehicle. I haven't read anything about that particular product line but the electronic gadget sounds like a good way to run your battery down.
Our finance manager was a real piece...piece of chit. He'd swear up and down this "Prestige" coating would maintain your new beamer's coat and luster for a lifetime, and they'd repaint it if it lost any luster whatsoever. Complete bs, I couldn't believe what I heard being one of the guys who helps apply it. They charged something like $1300 for the coat, it was 3 cheapo walmart bottles of "Prestige" coating, one was for the fabric and one was for the dash, and one was for the paint. Was rediculous, the customer is lucky they don't see it applied. It's rubbed in like wax, those finance managers make a ton of money (buddy of mine is 21 and makes over 6 figures, brand new 3600 sq ft house, wife, kid, etc). Anyways, just be careful, if anything it's hard to find truth in 90% of their talk.

I worked at a dealership too and that stuff is crap. Like Jos said its a walmart bottle of scotchguard, some crappy paint protectant and a spray for the undercoat in a spray bottle (talk about crappy coverage) Waste of money.
Agreed, it's a waste of money... It's the equivilent of taking your truck in for service, and having them tell you that your muffler bearing has a leak and needs to be repalced.
