Standard Ford Alarm System
Standard Ford Alarm System
I have the Ford Alarm system, but I can't figure out how to test if it works. When armed I can pound on the windows and jump up and down on the bumper and nothing. Is this right, or should the alarm go off or at least beep once to warn the Perp?
The alarm only monitors door contacts and I believe the hood contact. So if anyone opens a door or the hood alarm will sound. Also if anyone turns on the ignition without a valid key alarm will sound. What you are talking about requires a shock sensor which the factory alarm does not have.

and if it does not have one and you want an inexpensive one that works pretty good. i had an automate (made by DEI) put in. it comes with a siren and a shock sensor that uses the factory key fobs and has worked flawlessly.
The factory Ford alarm is a PATS system, which is a passive anti theft system. It does not have a shock sensor, it will only go off if the door or possibly hood and or liftgate if equiped is opened without turning the key in the drivers door lock cylinder or using the key fob. As a side note it will not go off if an unprogrammed key is used in the ignition it will just not start it would only crank.

The alarm will go off if I open the door with the window down, also there is a little retangular box below the steering column that has a button on one end and a red light on the other.

Sorry, I have to hijack your thread to ask a question. I tried to send you a message at first but I wasn't aloud.
You said you got the nav-traffic for your unit when you bought it. How is it working for you? Is that option worth the money. I remember you talking about getting it in your thread. I'm thinking about adding it to mine know. Just want to make sure it's worth the money. Thanks

I was considering getting the traffic unit, but I didn't get it yet. Most of the time I can get that info from the radio and reroute. I don't do that much driving in unfamiliar traffic areas.

It has a button on one end. Is that a valet switch?
I just picked up an F-150 an am trying to figure out all the features.
The dealer said they added a security system. The sticker only says keyless entry with scurilock.
Does it sound like I have something additional security wise?

Meaning there are no additional sensors, but if someone were to force the hood or a door open the engine would be disabled and the alarm would go off. Depending on which alarm you have, you enable/disable the valet function by turning the ignition key to power on and off without starting 3 times within ten seconds.
I will have to get under the dash and see what the model number is on the module.
may not be a button on one end a red led on the other. Rather that button may be the **** on the shock sensor to adjust the sensitivity. I installed 2 factory ford alarm system (made by code alarm btw) and the shock module is about 1"x2" or 3" with a red LED and a small **** that sticks out. I can jump up and down on my truck right now and hit it and get nothing. I do get it if I close the tailgate though. I need to get up under there and adjust it to the right level, just keep getting sidetracked.
