I would have bought a Lariat (instead of a FX4) if they were offered in Silver Metallic w/ Black leather interior.

Oh, and I'm old!

didnt want the wood grain...the extra creature comforts were nice, but really all they would to is contribute to my laziness- im pretty sure i can do the mpg math in my head, im pretty sure i can reach over and turn the air on, or the radio all by hand- the full door of a screw could've been nice, but it took out the 6.5' bed-a big no in my book- i loved the fx4 grille, couldn't have it with the lariat- king ranch is definitely nice, but i wanted a less-care free owning experience- we have an 05 KR superduty, and its a beauty, but im an on the run college student and wouldnt have been able to keep it sharp 24-7
My Lariat has a 6.5' bed with 4 doors. I started out with any '88 Ranger reg cab, then a 98 Ranger scab didn't no what I had been missing, then moved up to a 2000 F150 scab with the opening rear doors. Said I will never go back to small trucks. Then I got an 04 Lariat Screw w/5.5' bed. 4 fullsize doors is definately a step up. Just got an 06 Lariat Screw w/6.5' bed. At this rate, I'll be driving a F550 on day!

I like the Lariat over the FX4. I don't know about the suspension but the interior is beautiful in a Lariat. I also like the way the grill looks. The dealer told me the price was the same between the 2, 33Kish.

Yes Thumper, Josiah, et al have the Lariat, they are just fooling themselves.

But it doesn't matter, because the XLT trumps all.
I'm not 'old', and besides, my wife drives the truck mostly and she is younger (by 6 years - still in her twenties).

Plus 'Lariat' sounds cooler.

I didn't matter to me - I would have taken either one. It just happens that the Lariat we got had everything we wanted in it (SCREW w/6.5 bed, moonroof, etc).

I do wish we had a bench seat instead of the captain's chairs. That's about the only thing I would change.

If would choose an FX4 over a Lariat.I don't like the wood grain on the interior and I don't care for leather seats.I also prefer the manual transfer case,I don't know if the manual tc is available on either one? The one thing I do like better about the Lariat is the painted fender flares.

Seconded. I could only find the FX4 in silver w/ black leather, so it's what I went with.

See the best of all the worlds. But in the real world, the king ranch is the man. But I am like you. I want a combination of all three. Well actually all four, the Harley Davidson has some nice characteristics too.

They are both great trucks - I started with an 04 FX4 scab, traded for an 05 Lariat screw ( totally loaded w/ every option ), then went back to an 06 FX4 scab. All have/had leather trim interior, console shift, 3.73LS rear, 6 cd - the 06 is cd/mp3. Just a personal preference with the FX4, I like the sport leather trim seats, carbon fiber dash, FX4 instrument cluster and the manual climate controls - my a/c definately seems colder, and definately the 18" gray trim rims - can't wait to stuff 325's on them.. I really am used to the reverse sensors now, probably the most useful option. I'll take an FX4 scab any day. This one's a keeper, hope it lasts 200k miles...

Just so everyone is aware that the FX4 seats are better as the side bolsters are "Enhanced" as Ford would like to say. Now for 2007 Ford has made standard on all seats the "Enhanced Side Bolsters".

So with that being said... 2004-2006 Larait owners... The FX4 seats are better.

The lariat is much better for beer drinkers! When you fart it dont sink in and stink up the cheap cloth interior!

Thump: your gonna have to build a ramp for gramps to get in!
