Question Water Leak - Mildew Smell

Started noticing a mildew smell in the truck a few weeks ago... finally pulled of the door sill plates on both front doors... the channels with wiring have water in them, and the padding under the carpets on driver and passenger sides are soaked with water.... Anyone have had this happen?

Never been in an accident.

Never replaced any of the windows

Never left the sunroof or windows open in the rain

Truck going to the shop tonight....

The soapy water test:
Crank up the A/C and put the fan speed on high, then apply soapy water around
your moonroof and 3rd brake light and watch for bubbles.

This gotta come from the front somewhere. The headliner and the carpets in the back are dry...

Saw one thread talking about AC drain being too short...

I'll update this thread after it comes back from the shop....

I'm seriously thinking about the extended warranty..3/36 just doesn't cut it...

The water leak seems to be a combination of the 3rd brake light and the cowl.... picking up the truck later today, hopefull that did the trick..

I had the same problem last summer-- 2004 supercab. It was the air conditioning. The drain malfunctioned for whatever reason, and the condensation drained back into my passenger side. The carpets were soaked. I notice it when I heard water sloshin' around in the wire channels.

Take it to the dealer. It is a warranty issue. Get it done before you're overcome by the mildew.
