Is there any specific line you have to watch for when installing, maybe crimp or cap it off? I don't want fluid all over my face when I remove it. Thanks for the help, I just went and looked and my build date is 11/03...not exactly what I wanted to see.

fluid is going to come out of both lines ( one pressure, usually larger diameter, and the other return line). I stick vacuum caps over the ends to prevent fluid from leaking out. But if your fluid is dark or black I would just drain it all and change it.

Get this, there is no fluid inside my rack. I can see the shiny rack bottom and teeth through the crack in my steering rack. I still have power steering but there is no grease in there from what I can see, no fluid, nothing.

Here is the video

I guess you don't need to worry about getting fluid everywhere if it has all leaked out. I don't know how you can get power assist w/out any fluid.

Whats the build dates on the brakes TSB? And if I have oversized tires will they not fix the problem because of them?

Your dealership can fix this under warranty (even though the warranty is up) if they really wanted to. My dad is a shop foreman and has done things like this in the past. A few days out of warranty, they don't want to lose a customer, they talk with Ford and it is agreed that they will cover it. Be persistent, threaten to call Ford, and you should get it taken care of seeing how it was an issue while it was covered under warranty.

Appreciate it bro, but I am well out of warranty. I worked @ the Dealership here in town for a while and the tech's are good guys, but I am not sure if they'd be allowed to give me a break on price without going through someone else.

caimakale, I also work at a dealer and am also willing to help a customer with a problem, such as being a few days out of warranty. but on the other hand my dealership usually does'nt respond well to "threats of calling Ford". If you have a valid concern and are not far out of warranty it shouldn't be a problem. 04procomplariat the tires are not what caused the brake vibration it's poor rotor/caliper design. the cutoff date is 11/29/2004, they also update the caliper along with the rotors. hope that helps.

I've got a 10/03 build date truck. At 23,xxx miles, my brakes suck. What is the build date cut-off for this brake TSB (what's the number for it, too)? I may have my dealer look at it when I go in for my next service.

I agree, I should have worded my response better, but I was in a hurry. I agree you should do everything possible and exhaust all options before calling Ford, even possibly trying a different dealership. A different dealership would love the opportunity to gain a new customer in a situation like this, your repair history is available to any Ford dealership. As a last resort I would recommend calling Ford if all else fails.
