How do you know if your F150 is pre wired for the rail system ford dvd player? I bought my 2004 F-150 XLT 4x2 used with the rail system and do not know what to look for in figureing out if it's pre wired. Any help?????

My 05 came prewired. If you take off the first overhead console bin (the one closest to the engine) there should be a hole in the headliner. Mine has a set of wires up there for the DVD player.

The "DVD Prep Pkg" was an option that didn't crop up 'till the 2005 model year. If you have the Audiophile option on your 2004, then you can order a service part harness from Ford and connect it up that way.

the pigail above the first bin is a power/courtesy/ground for accessories. Unfortunatly it is not for the dvd. the dvd harness has 18 wires :o

so as expy noted, you can get a service part harness that connects to an open harness in your Rear driver side pillar trim.
Also, the dvd has to be compatible with the 04 radio. Ford made radio changes already in 05

if you are serious about doing this. keep me posted. there are ways to reflash newer dvd's to make work with your 04 radio
