Need help with towing *URGENT*

I am sure I am prolly going to get flamed for asking this question, but I was brought up to be better safe than sorry. This is my first time towing anything and I have what I am guessing is a really stupid question. I am going to be towing a trailer with my 04 F-150 5.4L. It is a fairly light trailer and wont have much weight in it. I went and bought a hitch today. I figured it would just slide right in and I would be done, alas, it doesn't seem so simple. On the factory tow package, there are two through wholes to line up a hitch. My trailer hitch will line up with both of them. So my question is which one do I use (or does it even matter). If needed I took some pictures and I can post them here for reference if I am not making any sense.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Furthest "In" Position, Up close

Furthest "In" Position, Whole hitch

Furthest "Out" Position, Up close

Furthest "Out" Position, Whole hitch

Thanks again for any help.

Furthest in position is the strongest. The further out position would make it easier to back up your trailer and get alittle more of a angle on it. Hope that makes sense!

That is awesome, thank you for the help. So, if I understand correctly, I can use either. Big eavy trailer, use the inward hole, light trailer, more manueverability, outward hole.

Thanks for the help.
