I think with the 4.6 and those 35" tires, you're gonna wanna spend that stereo money on gears instead.

You know what I think, I think you found a good looking truck, and I think you deserve many thanks for serving this country. Good luck with it.

I totally agree with him. My truck had 35s and the 3.55 gearing. When I drove it I didn't know how sluggish it was till I got in my moms ES 330 and now my Escape. Save your money and go for gears. Heck I'd get gears before the lift to be honest with you.

everybody's going to tell you 4.56's for 35" tires but if you drive on the freeway at all and want to go faster than 65-70 then you'd be better off with 4.11's. 4.11's get you back to/pretty close to stock, 4.56's get you more oomph off the line.

Err, assuming you have 3.55's now. Err and also this applies to the 5.4, I'm not sure about the 4.6, but I assume it would be true for the smaller v8 as well.

EDIT - And, if you have 3.73's, it's probably not worth the cost to go to 4.10, the rule of thumb is go at least two "steps" to make the cost worth the investement. So 3.55 to 4.10 and up is a good jump, and 3.73 to 4.30 and up is a good jump. But there are no Reverse cut 4.30's for the front (and it's too bad because I think that is the perfect gear for 4xF150's with 35's). So you go to 4.56's, if you can stand the slower driving on the high end...

Go with 4.56s, no doubt abut it. . your not going to top your truck out on the highway.

You are going to be moving 35" tires with 3.55s. There will be a TON of strain on that 8.8 rear end trying to move those tires. The chances of you blowing out that gear set will be high. And the moment one tire goes from no-traction to traction you better hope nothing breaks. So the reason for the 4.56s would be less strain and more efficiency for the whole system. Your engine nor transmission will have to work so hard. And the 4.6 needs all it can get anyway.

Now you're confused.

Edit: How many miles do you drive a day (city?/hwy?) and what kind of off-roading will you be doing ?
