Does any1 know how to access the tail gate torsion assist. I took the access panel off the inside of the tail gate and it only gives you access to the lock.

I then removed the tailgate but it does not really have any access. Any one have any experience with this issue. Seems like my assist has sprung or come un hinged in some way.
