thanks for the info i am not aware of the stipulations but i was almost certain that they exist. i wouldn't go over board and i wouldn't want people to know i had them. needless to say they would be hidden.

Something like this would be discreet until you turn them on b/c they look like fogs when off:

but show Amber/White when on:

And Amber/White may not get you in too much trouble if you are using them as "show lights" rather than the public streets.

The thing is, I dont plan on using them on "public" roads. We have about 4000 acres of farm land/woods and that is where I would be using them. Trust me, i'm not stupid enough to get out on the highway/public road and use them. I understand you guys looking out for me and telling me it is illegal but that is nothing that I didnt already know. I will NOT be using them on public roads though. That blue light along with a train horn would scare the living daylights out of someone. And I believe police lights are blue and red not just blue. My friend had a light up Ford hitch plug that was blue and red and he got stopped for that and they told him to unplugg it because it looked like a cop light. kinda stupid I think, it was just a hitch plug.

It should not be illegal offroad, say...@ Pismo Beach SVRA or an OHV park? Why are volunteer firefighters scrutinized for using lights on their vehicles?

I'm going to be adding 2 of these to my setup, they are going to be where the lower grill would be, one on each side of my siren...

Yes, you drill a hole in the housing, and then push the strobes through, I have the whelen hideaway strobes..

Sounded like you meant on the road to me. I think you did, you just are thinking better of it now. Which is good. Real good.

If you do it on your own land then good, but on a highway, back road or whatever...a public road of ANY kind is absolutely 100% illegal.

the strobes

Is it illegal to use them to get the signal to change too? so instead of flashing your bright to get the light to change you just flip the switch as your going up to the intersection?

any one know about arizona and the white strobes and if they are legal?

I know a couple of years ago in Arkansas there was a blue-light rapist. This guy would flash his lights and pull women over and rape them. I am pretty sure that if you were ever caught with those lights even in or on your vehicle (no matter your intention) you would probably be in pretty big trouble.

I think you should take everyone's advice and just forget about it. Some things that are funny to some people are not funny to others. This is one of those things that falls into that category. A waste of money in my opinion.

How much are a decent set of strobes? I just want to do some in my head lights and tail lights.

I really don't have any idea of what Im looking for so could anyone help me out? I want a kit to do the front head lights and the tail lights? Im guessing its going to cost about $200 for a quality kit like this?

That way it won't be quite as blatantly illegal as actual cop lights, and you might hav a fightin chance out in the boon-docks to not get charge with impersonating an officer

Good luck

Even if they sell them as party lights. If you get caught with on top of your truck. you are going to get busted for impersonating a peace officer. I would hate for your to be buba's new girlfriend over some silly lights.

99.99999% sure that the strobe lights don't change the intersection stop lights, rather a radio signal device. Some guy was hauled into court a year or so ago after using one for years. I think he got it off ebay for $50.

Just something I could pop on the roof in a second and turn it on. I'm not wanting like a big lightbar or anything.
If you are willing to risk a class D felony just to play a joke on your friends, you are not the smartest person on the road.
