Hoppy 12v power adapter

Just picked one of these up at Advanced Auto:

Planned to use it with a 12v light bar for loading/unloading truck at night. Simple enough, but I plug it in and get no power. I've never used the 7 pin connector for anything, is it always on? Should I check fuses? For $10 I figured what the heck, might have to take it back and do the 12v adapter MYTH wrote up instead.

There should have been a wiring pigtail and a relay supplied with your truck if you have the factory tow package. The relay must be installed and you may have to have the key on to power the 7 pin 12 volt connection. The wiring pigtail is for installing a trailer brake controller.

DOH! I do have the pigtail "somewhere in a safe location", got tired of it laying around in the cab so I put it somewhere. I'll have to find it and try it out. Thanks.

LOL... if it's like my 'safe locations', you'll never find it. LOL! I do that all the time...

"...I'll put this here so that I remember where it's located when I need it..." Once I need it, I can't find it.

I'm convinced now I'll never find this pigtail eaver again. Two days of OCD looking everywhere three times and my GF now confirms I'm mental. She asked if I'd like to clean the door ***** while I look. I gotta pack the house to move in a month, hopefully I'll find it in that process. Thankfully I'll have a garage soon and all car/truck parts will be in there and there only.

Just in case I never find my Osama Bin Pigtail anyone know what the dealer "sells" em for?

I have an extra one you can have free. Just cover the shipping cost. It's new in the bag. Part #4L3T-15A416-AB

Sent you an email since we shouldn't talk about buying/selling here. I'm not sure the email thing works, if you don't get it let me know.
Here's mine in case you need it: scorpio333 @ gmail.com (no spaces)

The pigtail is only needed if you are installing a trailer brake controller. If the relay is all you need you should be able to get one at a dealership easily enough.

I've got the factory installed hitch. The hoppy has pins at 1 o'clock and 7 o'clock and can only be plugged in that way. I assumed by the looks of the connector it just plugs right into the truck, no pigtail needed. Honestly I cannot for the life of me remember what the pigtail looks like, I just remember the general shape of the bag/contents. Is the relay part of the pigtail, I'm thinking no??? Sorry I'm such an ***, I never used a hitch. Thinking I should just stick to flashlights

The relay and the pigtail come in a bag with instruction for there locations. They are separate pieces. I'm at work right now. When I get home I'll take a picture of them and post it. I emailed you earlier. It doesn't look like the email here is working. Anyways If you still can't find yours you can have mine as I have two of them.

^^^^

That's it. The pigtail plugs in under the dash to install a trailer brake controller. The relay is what you need to provide power to the 7-pin trailer connector. You won't need the pigtail unless you are installing a trailer brake controller.
