dealership or not?

I am having a few problems with my truck lately and cant decide to take it to the shop or not. I hate leaving my truck there because it is always a weeks time and I worrie about getting my truck hit on the lot or my system jacked. I see how the lot boys drive there and they are always hitting stuff or curbing the truck so I hate taking it there. My problems are poping leafsprings, a really inconstiant idle and a weird sound from my pullys, just this high pitch groan. Is this stuff I can take care of at home? I tryed lubing my leafs but it didnt help. I have an edge on level 3 and run 91 oct, also about 8k ago changed the fuel filter, has anyone else noticed a rough idle caused by the edge? also could K and N oil on the MAS cause my idle problems? and finally what type of lube to use to quiet the pullys, or should I just go to the shop for all of this? sorry for the long post I just really hate the dealership and would like to take care of my truck on my own.

Schedule an appointment with a different dealer.

Take it in....just lay down the law and your concerns to the service guy before you leave it.
The inconsistant idle could be a bad throttle body, I had the same problem and since they replaced it, it has never run so good.

I took my truck into the dealer and got the drive clutch replaced and they didnt hook the 4x4 back up into the transfer case. I would do it myself but I can't find the wire to plug it back in. Just make sure you can trust your dealer when you take it to them.

I'm glad the dealer I go to for service has a friend of mine working there.

I have popping springs too. They were squeaking too but I lubed them somewhat. They pop going around tight corners.

I have the groan, only when A/C is on. Dealer had it for 4 days (checking some other stuff too), and they could not figure out what is causing it. They wound up telling me not to worry about it but that's not really the answer I wanted. I guess at least I have it in the "system" so if my compressor falls off anytime soon I can say "See you dumb mothers!". Might try a gatorback belt to see if it makes any difference, or I may just go to an AC shop...
