Exclamation Gettin close to Initiating Lemon Law Action

I'm taking my 05 F150 XLT SCREW in for a raw fuel smell for the 4th time. Under New York State Lemon Law if they fail to repair a 4th time it is grounds for Lemon Law. I'll post results after this 4th attempt....

Fuel smell

I bought new in July and still have a fairly strong fuel smell in the cab. I don't like, but I highly doubt they will take it back. Has 1500 miles and I thought it might go away. Nope

The 3 time + problem is a Raw Fuel odor. It can be experienced by opening the "fresh air" function on the climate control panel. It can also be noted by opening the hood and positioning ones' face over the passenger side of the engine compartment.

I've had it in 3 times for this , so far. #4 is this Monday.

Make them fix it. Make them fix it. Make them fix it. Make them fix it.

Lemon Law in NY is 29 days in repair shop or 4 repair attempts: aka 'inability to repair' ( on something major , or something dangerous or that would make the vehicle unlikley to re-sell) within 2 years and 18,000 miles.

I took mine in once around 2k for a fuel smell. The techs smelled it also. The checked everything including the brakes. Thought it could have been a hanging brake. They called a FMC Tech line and came up with the conclusion that I was getting gas from a station that has a high sulfer content. They said the sulfer builds up in the exhaust, especially the cats, and burns slowly creating the smell. I now switch around my gas stations more, and haven't had a problem since.

Were you getting the smell in the engine compartment? That's where mine is , right over the left side of the engine.

My 2005 F-150 has had the gas smell twice inside the truck. Both times the check engine light appeared, it started backfiring, and the truck was shaking. And both times it had to be towed. The first time, 1 fuel injector was stuck. Two days ago, 2 injectors were stuck. The dealer said that this somehow caused bearings to get inside the engine and now the engine has to be rebuilt or replaced.

It's under warranty, but I feel like I will be making new-car sized payments on someone else's used truck engine. It only has 26k miles.

Grim- The dealer said the bearings in the engine are causing a severe grinding noise. I am not a mechanic at all, but still, I think grinding bearings are not a good sign. What do you think it means?
