Best SHOCKS for Towing with 05 Screw ??
Hi Guys,
Bought a new Fleetwood Nitrous Toy Hauler a month ago and am going to upgrade my shocks in an effort to elimiate a little occasional bounce in the supension and to give a firmer ride when towing an 8000 lb (fully loaded) Toy Hauler. Looking at Bilsteins HDs or Ranchos 5000s and would appreciate some first hand feedback from those that tow heavy loads with their F-150. Would also be open to other brands but have had positive previous experiance with Bilsteins and Ranchos.
BTW, my Screw has been very impressive at towing my 27+ foot Toy Hauler even in the Great Smokey Mountains and the local high altitude steep terrain where I live (Western NC mountains). Sure, I ain't gonna win any races, but I don't clog up traffic either. Did a very steep pull on the Blue Ridge Parkway from Cherokee to Balsam Mountain (2000 ft elevation up to 5500+ ft elevation in less than 20 miles) a few weeks ago and had no problem keeping up with a F-250 SD with Power Stroke pulling a 9000+ lb 5th Wheel. FYI, I have upgraded from 3.73 to 4.10 gears which helped a little but wasn't that great of an improvement.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The only thing that is going to help with that is a set of Firestone airbags. Or if you dont already have one a load leveling hitch. I have close to the same trailer and the hitch isnt enough Im going for the airbags next.

FYI, I also have the Roadmaster Active suspension which helps dramatically with ride height etc.
I have been looking at air bags also as I happen to have a new Air Lift Compressor/Controller II collecting dust on the shelf. Just so it is clear I am not having any real issues, just want to firm up the ride a little when towing as it tends to "float" just a little when going over bridges etc. and I would like it to be firmer.
