Thanx Ford!!! Awesome Catch!!!

...I heard a semi - louder than normal squeak coming from the left front. I was about 1hr 15 min from home so I decided to find a Ford Dealer and have a mechanic go for a ride with me...

The service advisor thought I was a little nuts bringing in my truck for a squeak. I told him I wanted to make sure everything was alright before I got on the highway for that drive.

Luckly the mechanic heard the squeak as well and we pulled right into the shop and he had it up on his lift in about 5 minutes. The mechanic didn't want to have me wait for the others in the service lane.

He lifted it up and started hitting things to find the sqeak... and nothin'.

He finally took off the two front tires and started snooping around. He found it! The top bolt on the driver's side caliper had worked it's way out about 1 1/2 inches! The bolt had about another 1/2" until it was all the way out!

WHEW!!!! He tightened them all down and sent me on my way. Thanx FORD!!!

i had an 82 chev. nothing sounded or felt out of the ordinary. this was back in high school. i brought it in the shop to check the brakes just for the heck of it cuz it was still new to me at the time, and one of the caliper bolts was missing. the caliper was resting on the center of the rotor!

it really shocked me cuz the truck wasnt just some beater that i picked up for a few hundred, it was in relatively good condition for its year.

Luckliy the shop teacher had connections and had a local auto store deliver me the part at his discount. And i had only had the truck for a few days so that was lucky. It still boggles my mind as so why it didn't have any noise or vibration or pedal sensation without one of the bolts on there.
