somebody anybody? I think 5x8x18 will do but what size diameter are the pipes. I want the stock exhaust to fit right up to the new muffler.

So the muffler size should be what 2.5 or smaller so the pipes fit on snug? Thanks for your reply

I had the stock muffler removed and replaced with an 18 inch universal Magnaflow. It sounds great. Not too loud and no drone at all.
Any exhaust shop should be able to hook you up. They just chop off the old one and replace it with a new one and an extension pipe.

What were the in and out diamters of the muffler (2.5, 3, 2). I need to know that in order to order the right muffler. What size I/O will mount right up to the stock pipes?

Just go to Midas and have them put a flowmaster muffler on your truck. They'll know what size is needed. That's what I plan on doing. Just a suggestion.

Does Midas just install Flowmaster or do they install Magnaflows, too?

Maybe it differs from shop to shop, 'cause the dealer search on Magnaflows website shows my local Midas as a Magnaflow dealer but the Flowmaster website does not show the same shop as a dealer for them.

Just look at your stock muffler, go to a muffler website like magnaflow, find one you like, find the part number, check ebay with the part nunmber inserted, order and wait for it. Then take the muffler to an exhaust shop and tell them you want this put in place of that. Not that hard.

My pipe measures 2.75 OD at the exit.... go figure.

I've had the same question with no answer. Not sure if I should go up or down on the I/O size. I would think up to 3, but I'm not sure about the exhaust velocity/backpressure difference.

From what searching around I have done, there are mufflers and tips out there sized for 2.75".... just not Magnaflow.
