3.56 or 4.11?

Which gears would be the best for a truck with 35 inch tires? I want stock power with optimized gas mileage.

4.11 you will lose too much low end with the 3.56 or 3.73.

I thought you gained low end and lost top end with the 3.56?

what gears do you have stock? and what tires were on it stock?

you have to take those both into account to calculate what gearing you need to move to with the larger tires

did you mean 4.56 instead of 3.56? 3.55 is the highest stock ratio for that year, isn't it? you'd have to move to a lower gear ratio with the 35s, at least down to 4.10, even lower if you had 3.73 stock...

yea i meant 4.56 oops. He looked at the tag on the rear diff and told me I should get 4.11 gears. I assume there is a tag on the rear dif that says what gears you have?

There are much better differentials to put in besides stock. If I was going to spend money to change the diff. I would buy a good aftermarket unit.

Yea but I am getting everything done for $200 and my old procomp coilovers. He has done tons of gear swaps so I am pretty sure he knows what he is talkin about.

yeah, i think so

the build code shows it too, i'm not sure where it is on ford, i haven't looked yet, but it's in the glove box on gm

with stock 3.73, going from a 31.5" to a 35" tire gets you real close to 4.10 to keep the same performance

Im not 100% but someone told me 4.56s would be better for 35s and 4.88s for 37s. Im no gear expert so Im just going off of what I've learned from other people.

I just got 456's and am really happy with them. If you do alot of highway driving i would say possibly go w/ 411's but i have the 4.6L engine so i needed the extra umph low end around town.

I got the stock 3.55's on 35's and it sucks on gas mileage. I get 10-11 mpg constantly.
