Audiophile Sub

Is there anywhere to buy the audiophile setup for my truck?? That is the one option I wish my truck had.

Thanks

Same here. I had no clue what the audiophile system was all about, until the dealer gave me a truck to drive while mine was in the shop. This truck had every option as mine except that it ALSO had audiophile. It was kick ***! Any idea if it would just plug and play into the 6 disk changer?

There are several posts about the conversion. First, make sure that your truck has the sub harness behind the passenger seat, if not you are in for some custom wiring. Second, you need the audiophile head unit with the third (sub woofer) output, to send the signal to the audiophile sub. Third, the door speakers are different, you can get better quality component speakers form a major retailer relatively inexpensive.

Check eBay for subs and head units

What about getting a pre-made box with sub enclosure? It'd sound a whole lot better and wouldn't have any problems like F-150 Duke and others have with it making noises etc.

I know of the JL Stealthbox and one other, but can't remember the name. Hopefully someone else will chime in.

Most of the trucks I've worked on already have the wiring harness for the Audiophile sub (usually taped to the side of the head unit wiring harness behind the dash), and on the other end of the harness you'll find the connector for the sub (located under your seat). You'll need and Audiophile head unit/sub to use the existing wiring. The standard head units do not have the sub output.

The Audiophile door speakers are definitely nothing special, so you'd be better off to buy some decent after-market 6X8's. If you want to add some bass without breaking the bank, you can add a powered sub with audio level inputs to your existing factory head unit. The sub connects directly to the speaker wires.

I am thinking the best bet would be an aftermarket pre-made sub enclosure with built in amp...my only concern is the audiophile enclosure seems to be built really well (handle me dropping stuff on it)...are the aftermarket enclosure built well? Anybody have a stealth box set up? If so what do you think?

if you go to crutchfield I think they have custom sub box, amp, and sub all together like the audiophile. They also have them on ebay occasionally. Ill be selling mine in a few weeks.

Thanks for all the input guy's, I think I will have better luck if I get the stuff from crutchfield. If I do this I will get an aftermarket HU, speakers and sub. It will sound better anyway.

An aftermarket sub (good quality) would be better than going with the audiophile sub. You'll just have to run the sub harness and not use the audiophile harness that's already installed in your truck.

Regarding Thumps post. I found the fix for the noises that come out of the OEM audiophile sub when you have an aftermarket harness.

Search my posts and you'll find a thread where I created a wiring diagram and description of the solution.

Colo, MTX makes a custom enclosure called the Thunderform. It has a 200w amp built in. Its made specifically for a F150. It fits under the back seat. Check it out at Crutchfield.com

look into a q-logic. it fits a 10" sub and looks similar to the audiophile. black and rounded off in the front, no loss of leg room. downfiring 10" sub. thats what im thinking about buying when i get the money.
