Fog Lights '05 vs '06

Am I the only one who doesn't like the fogs on the 06's? I had an '05 STX Rcab, 2wd with rectangular fogs (among other things) I just upgraded to an '06 XLT, Scab, 4WD with the round fogs and dont like their light output.

I spend a lot of time driving in area of open range and used the fogs on my '05 for a better view beyond the edge of the road. Lots of cows, sheep and horses wandering around in the dark. The round fogs don't seem to illuminate nearly as wide an area as the old ones did.

I haven't driven an 06, but I agree that the angle looks to be a lot wider on the 04-05s. I LOVE my fogs...they really light the road up on the sides.

I'm happy with my 06 fogs, but hate the round look. Love the 05 squares..

haven't driven an '05, but i have no complaints with my '06 fog lights...they seem to have a wider, more useable spread than the fog lights on my avalanche

it would be cool to get even wider, i'm curious now how much further the '05 gets out there

as far as looks, i like the round lamps better, but keep in mind, i'm waiting for a 'retro'-styled pickup that captures the lines of the late '70s models, similiar to the mustang concept--so round works better for me

yeah i agree with the first guys......i like the rectangle ones better as i have them....they seem to have better light output and i think they look alot better

plus i think its a stupid idea for the round ones....you got a box truck.....boxy lights and body lines....then there are some round lights thrown in......

You could probably find someone to swap their older ones for your's. As long as the bumpers match it should be painless switch.

I like the rounds on my 06. I think the light patter is just as good. Going to put HIDs on them soon I hope.

why is it stupid?

it would be a dreary world without the beauty of contrast, which is why i can respect that you don't like the design--i just can't agree that your reasoning for your preference is sound, because contrary to what you said, the lights aren't just thrown in...how well the lamps work in the overall is debateable, and i can see arguments both ways

i happen to support that the contrast serves to enhance the lines of the vehicle through contrast rather than dilute them with repetition--but there is also argument that the repetition reinforced the lines as well...at the end of the day, it's a judgement call on the use of design principles

luckily i have the opportunity to drive one with round lamps--but i'd be happy to drive one either way!

I like my f05 fogs but I do like the slight redesign with the 06 bumper with the smaller lower grille opening. If I knew someone with a DSG bumper with 0fogs I would swap bumper assemblys if they were partial to the 05 fogs though.

I had an 04 and an 05 with the rectangle fogs and now the 06 with the round fogs. Use them daily as we live in a fairly wooded area and agree the rectangle fogs lit up a wider area. I like the looks of the round ones a lot better though.
