How do you like the American Racing teflon rims?

 

Ya, it's vinyl. It can cost anywhere from 200.00 to 800.00 on this style truck depending on how much you do, how detailed, type of material etc. The folks that did mine have been doing my stuff for over 10 years now. I think their new site is gowraps.com, or their main site is stripeman.com.

 

Love 'em. They're forged, so they're ROUND, making them easier to balance and they ride great even at 75 mph. The teflon is cool....they don't actually 'just hose right off' after a romp in the mud, but they come clean VERY easily with just soap and water. Completely clean and non-stained. I suppose anything I get on them will just wipe right off considering I got some nasty mud on the whole truck, and the wheels were the only effortless part to clean.

 

Sweet truck man! I'm obviously in the wring line of work. I gotta get me a shop so I can have a shop truck!

Thats a 4.6L huh? How is that doing pushing those grapplers?

 

Not too bad really. BUT, she's getting gears soon. Haven't made up my mind between 4:10 or 4:56. But for the moment it's tolerable without overdrive up to about 70, then o/d will come in and it's slightly piggish, but not really as bad as I thought it would be.

 

I would say go with the 4:56s.

My friend had a 82 Silverado with 38s that he put 4:10s on, and belive it or not, we could not tell that big a difference. He ended up, later on going with the 4:56s and that made a world of difference. It cost him a lot of $$$ though. 2 gear jobs, front and a rear isnt' cheap, lol!

 

From my past experience, I was pretty safe with 4:10's, going to 4:56's I began to break stuff. I see what you mean though, going from a 3:55 to a 4:10 may not provide much of a difference. If I do go to 40's in the future, the 4:56's would already be there if I do it now, so it does look like the 4:56.

 

I'd without a doubt go with the 4.56s, does Black Sky do gears?
