Edge update (computer problem?)
Edge update (computer problem?)
I tried searching but there is nothing specific on my problem.I have the edge tuner since the group buy in 12/05 and never updated it. So today i said what the hell and tried..1st off i had trouble with the lightning software so i called edge and spoke to Nate. He guided me thru loading the most current software and i thought i would be good to go, but i was SOL. I got the software to recognize the unit and it showed connected but when i go to updates and click either "evolution update manager " or "lightning update manager" it looks like it is trying to establish a connection with the server but then i get a message "unable to locate the updated version file , this is usually caused during server maintenance or when files on the server are being updated please try again later." According to Nate at edge they are not doing anythig to disrupt an update and he said to disable my firewall. I went into my norton internet security and disabled my security and firewall and i get the same message.I tried this am and tonight and still same message...I was hoping some of the real edge/computer pros on here might be able to help
Have you restarted since? I had the SAME problem and even posted about it a few days ago. I had just unistalled the Lightning software and re-installed it, but never rebooted. Finally, I just said what the hell and did it and it worked perfectly. Let me know what happens.
PS: What version of Windows are you running?

Did you make sure the drivers installed correctly?

Even if i open the software and click updates, and the lightning update manager right now i get the same message.I would think it would at least check for the software update. I am curious if anyone else gets this message now. (without the unit hooked up to the USB)

FX4_GUY, I disabled the norton internet security which also has a personal firewall in the same box. When i disable the security it also says the firewall is disabled. I am not too computer savvy so i am not aware of any other firewall.. How can i find out if i have a windows firewall?
After i posted this i found the windows firewall in the control panel and disabled it. It looks like it updated the lightning software so now i have to give the edge unit a shot..I will see how it goes...thanx FX4_GUY and ThumperMX113

When you get into the Windows Firewall you might want to check to allow exceptions for just the Edge Evolution.
1. Get into the Windows Firewall.
2. Click on the Exceptions tab on top
3. Make sure anything having to do with Edge is checked.
