06 F150 4.6 Mods

I had my 2006 f-150 4.6 auto for about 2 weeks now and love it. I was just trying to see if i could get just a little more power. Was thinking of getting an edge tunner and trueflow intake kit for now. maybe a little later get an exhaust. Anyone have any information on the trueflow intake kit. I like the idea of it still being an enclosed intake, but removing and replacing the intake tube that i know removes HP. Or go with the Airaid Jr. Thanks for listening to me ramble.

A few people with the 4.6 have removed the silencer tube on the intake as a cheap but not so quick and easy power boost. Inside the tube there is another smaller tube you can remove that lessens the restriction of airflow

I had a Flowmaster muffler installed in place of the stock one, removed the silencer in the intake and dropped in a Fram Air Hog. I am satisfied with the improvement that made. You want faster, then consider a tuner.

Im not looking for a race car, just some more passing power on the highway, if i can better gas milage, and that little extra when i need to tow or take someting heavy in the bed (dont tow alot). i just orderd the Airaid MIT intake tube and the True flow direct replacment filter. They sold me on the trueflow website. That and my procomp bedliner will be it for now. I think a toolbox is next, im tired of having my tools all over the backseat floor.

Get a tuner. Best bang for the buck. And most improvement. There is a chips and tuner forum with lots of info.

go with a magnaflow true-x muffler, and an Edge tuner. If you're used to spending $$$ go with the Volant intake. just about the best you can get, even if the run around $250

04 4.6 here.

I picked up a SuperChips 1714 used on the Classified Adds... That sluggish take off we experience from 0-whatever... on the 87 Perfomance setting for that tuner, is gone. I bought the Tuner for 190, but I should have picked up an Edge PowerProgrammer. It comes with a great display module that attaches to your dash and looks stock.

Tuner first... that will get you that good pull on the HWY. If you need more than pick up an Exhaust... why? 2 fold. You get the kewl sound and SOME perfomance changes... you will feel more pull on HWY. Then, if you still arent satisfied, grab an intake. They are about 250-300.
