Edge: Help

I downloaded the new Lightning software but now whenever I try to update the unit I get this message;

Evolution unit changed has been detected.
Reloading Version Information

Does this mean its been updated?

Any help?

Not a clue. When I updated mine, at one point I thought it had locked up and then suddenly it was done. Wish that program had a status bar, or a light on the EDGE to show it's doing something.

Well it finally worked about 30 minutes ago. Weird.

Just making sure, with the new Lightning Software, it displays the firmware and evolution calibration at the bottom. Now thats the current status of your Edge module, correct?

I didn't pay much attention to the different calibration codes. But it's working ok. I'm just using level 2 as usual for me. I did notice the AMPG is a little more accurate after taking a 386 mile trip. And it's a bit better around town. Although it shows a bit lower than before.

I think something is wrong with my computers. .

So, I tried to update the Edge once again. I uninstalled the Lightning Software and re-installed it. The version I got was v2.00.0024. Now its telling me there is a version named v2.00.0047. I go and download the update and it goes to the screen where its supposed to be restarting the program than it freezes up. Two computers and it does the same thing. I can't get the Evolution updated either even with the v2.00.0024 version of the Lightning software. Its telling me the firmware version should be 20 and the calibration should be 21. Whenever I try to update it gives me this message, Evolution unit changed has been detected. Reloading Version Information. Just like before but it never actually updates.

I just updated mine. Lightning version is V2.00.0047. I did the Evolution update, but since I had already had the beta versions of 20 & 21 downloaded, it said that I was up to date. Maybe you could try using the "Repair all Updates" function? Hope you find out what is going on.

No. Most of the updates in the last few months have just been for the new trucks with different calibration codes. I installed mine last year at this time and did the last update I think in April. Unless EDGE comes up with something better in the programing, I will leave mine alone.

good luck and enjoy.

I think something is wrong with my computers. .
Just a reminder to turn off your securtiy system before starting an update. Norton always caused a problem with mine until I started to disable it prior to downloading.

I was trying to update to the newest version yesterday, and my computer crashed, BIG TIME!! It is at a friends house right now, she use to do IT and now programming for a huge company, she called tonight and said that my computer had a "Trojan horse". But she can't get rid of it, but she is sure that someone at her work will be able to.

Everything was working just fine until I downloaded the newest version of the lightning software and thats when everything went bad. Amanda is going to have the computer up and running again tomorrow and I will have her download everything so that incase something happens again I will be there to fix it, or maybe prevent it.

So wish me luck....

Phs79,

Most trojans download other malware, usually keystroke logging password stealing programs. I would format the drive and do a complete reinstall of windows. You should change all your passwords and be alert for any suspicious activity on any of services you accessed from that computer. With rootkits and other types of hidden malware a reinstall is the only way to be certain your computer is clean.
