So is the JLT an oiled filter? I have been thinking about the AEM since they came out with the dry filter

The JLT uses a custom oiled filter from S&B.
S&B uses only cotton filter material which holds the oils when it gets hot.
Most others use a Polyester type material and will secreat the oils when hot.
S&B makes one of the best filters out there.

The oilless sound nice, but I need more time and test data to jump on that wagon, plus I have never had any issue with a oiled filter. If it's not broke...

I was thinking of using a Ram Air hood or even just a Mustang or Roush scoop and cutting a hole to make it functional. I think it will work great.

Put together price and the performance each will net you, HP per $.
Then figure the tuner will help you with all future changes you make like tires, gears, headers, fuel octane and so on.

Feel free to give me a ring for more info.

Good luck on the choice, another very satisfied JLT customer here. Waiting for UD pullies to do the E fans/pullies at the same time....do the mods ever end?

I also HIGHLY recommend that you get to a dyno and have your A/F checked, if its running lean, engine damage can happen very quickly..!!

Getting to the dyno with any tuning and or intake mod is a great idea, just for your piece of mind, but we made sure these were set up safe and powerful.
Most trucks will see mid 12's A/F.

Plus with these trucks if it were lean a CEL would be on right away. There very sencetive to a lean mixture.

I really like the looks of this intake, with the exception of the plate that goes between it and the engine. I wonder how necessary that plate is. Jon

You could paint the plate or make it out of another material for that matter. It just helps with heat and the back of it appears to help with supporting the filter.

Yes, the plate helps keep the radiant heat from the filter at low speed. We also used 1/8" ABS as it's a great insulator.

In person it doesn't look that bad and yes, it can be painted.
