Newbie...Help With Tires

What's going on fellas!!! Obviously, I am newbie here and a new Ford owner as well!!! Right now I am running a 2005 F-150 SuperCrew 4X4 with factory tires. Well, these tires just ain't gonna cut it come fall. I live to hunt....and what I hunt most is whitetail and waterfowl. If it has antlers or feathers and webbed feet...it had better watch out!!! Well, in hunting my little antlered and webfooted friends, I do a lot of off-road driving (backroads, lease roads, cornfields, swamp edges, creek crossings, etc.). I HAVE to upgrade the rubber on my truck to something like a 285/70/17, something a bit wider with lugs that will get me anywhere I need to go, but still provide a decent treadwear.

I guess I am looking for some input from you guys who are running an off-road tire on your rigs. I have been looking at the Discoverer STTs and the Nitto TerraGrappler ATs. But I am open to any suggestions....

Help a newbie out...please!

Bridgestone, BFG and Toyo also make really good AT tires. I had Bridgestone AT Revo's on my old truck and liked the way they performed. On this truck I'm leaning more towards the Toyo's. The Nitto's and Toyos look pretty similar to each other. I don't think you could go wrong with any of the tires mentioned. They should all be very capable of doing what you want.
