Help Steering Vibration

Help Steering VIBRATION

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just looking for someone who' been lucky to get steering vibrations problem fixed on their 2006 Lariet or Mark LT.

I have 2006 Mark LT and this truck has vibration in steering when driving above 50mph. the vibration gets pretty bad when driving on the highway the vibration seems to coming from the front end and gets transmitted thru steering. I have taken the truck back to the dealership about 6 times and they have tried bunch of things from balancing tired numerous times to replacing front two tires. Just few weeks ago they replaced drive shaft, trans mounts and dampner for steering , but that didn;t do anything and vibration is till the same.

I also found some info somone had posted on one of the forums to get the front wheels indexed got that done but still no help.

Now the dealership tells me thay cant do anything further, so i ended up calling Lincoln and after Lincoln to dealship and called me back and told me that this how this truck is suppose to drive.

I am just hoping i can get some help about this problem becuz i am quiet sure that there are many owners with this problem but hopefully somone was able to get this issue resolved.

Thanks

I had a similar problem for a very long time and we tried everything too. My problem was finally resolved when a wheel (I have the 17" chrome clad steel wheels) was discovered to be out of round. The wheel was replaced and the problem went away. Good luck to you!

I thought I was the one lucky person with no vibes, steering woble....zip....was for about 40,000 miles....but starting about a month ago I'm getting what I guess you'd call steering nimble??

very strange ...in the morning on the way to work it's fine....and yes I'm awake and paying close attention then on the way home when it's hot as h#ll I get the nimble...sterring wheel ossilates[sp?] back and forth about a quarter inch....the faster I go the worse it gets....and stranger still their repaving several miles of the freeway for drive home and the vibe gets worse on the new asphalt when I get off on the side roads it's still there but not as bad....now that I think about it seems I started noticing it after last tire rotation....done every 5000 miles...guess this time around I'll have them balanced and rotated and see what happens....

You didn't mention if there was an alignment done or not. I would think they would have checked that before anything else, but if they haven't, get them to check it.

see if Josiah will chime in, he broke his front drive steering thingy.
I know I drove a lifted f150 from galpin (dealership) and the steering was terrible... shook the steering wheel left and right like crazy on the freeway... drove fine on the street.

my 06 fx4 has no issues, crawl underneith and have someone start it up, Josiah has a video of what it looks likes broken.

The steering nibble was one of the problems they couldn't fix in my '04. Tried everything from tires/wheels, alignment, road force balancing... everything. It's not how these trucks are supposed to drive. If so, they wouldn't be able to sell any of them.

My 04 Lariat had the same problem. Ford did everything Mark_LT_2006 said along with replacing tires, wheels, hubs, etc. The Ford rep finally told me the vibration was within normal parameters. I didn't think it was normal so I sold the Lariat and bought an 04 GMC Sierra. Over the last couple of years I had enough good feedback from friends and family that I decided to take another chance. The great year end deals Ford was offering were too good to pass up.

My 06 XLT has no vibration at any speed! So far I am very pleased with the truck. Of course I knew what to look for when I test drove some of the 06s.

I'm still amazed how much more solid the Ford feels vs the GMC. Not to mention the annoying intermediate shaft problem GM has.

Your steering vibration sounds similar to the steering vibration F150 Duke had in the link below. The solution to F150 Duke's vibration is on page 3 of the thread.
