Problem after installing JDM 2.5"/4" lowering kit .

Hi guys, after installing DJM 2.5"/4" lowering kit, the rear sits too low and i can not put too much weight on the bed or tow anything heavy because the tires (24" toyo proxes, 33" tall) can hit the rear fenders. That would be very easy to fix buying Ride-Rite airbag helpers (http://www.ride-rite.com/installatio...tions/2350.pdf) but the problem is that my suspension it's not stock anymore and the Ride-Rite kit designed for 05-06 F-150 4x4 won't fit. Any ideas ? Any comment will be truly appreciated.
Thanks, Rafael.

Hey man, I said the same problem. I got the Air Shocks from Ground Force and it helped with ride quality and it allows you to adjust the ride height too. I just leave mine at 65 PSI for normal driving and it looks and feels great, way better I'm sure than the shocks you have on now.

www.GroundForce.com

They may not have it listed under the products on the website as they are fairly new (I got the first set off the production line) but I know they are ready for sale. you may need to call and ask for a list of distributers.

they are air SHOCKS. Basically, it's a shock with an airbag built into it...literally. It comes with hoses that go to a remote location where you hook it up to a compressor to fill them up.

I'll try and get some pics

This is not entirely true. I tow a 6000lb boat and I have a 2/4 drop with replacment rear springs instead of a flip kit, I have yet to bottom out my truck.

rafa,

the air shocks lumadar is talking about should be the solution to your problem you may have to play with the airpressure to get the ride that you like, but for towing just air them up and go. They just bolt in place of your old shocks and you run the air lines to the rear bumper into a T or you can have seperate fill or you can be sweet and get a small onboard compressor set up.
good luck

I have a 2/5 drop on my 4x4 SCrew and can pull a trailer, load the bed, or whatever I want using the stock shocks....I would never install a fllip kit..
DJM lower control arms in front, removed the blocks and installed lowering shackles and de-arched the stock springs 1" in the rear. Maintained factory ride with a nice lowered stance...

Dude all that i want is stay away from compressors, shocks with airbags and anything that looks like, i had a Ridetech ShockWaves on my truck and they gave me a lot of headaches, they don't last too long, they are beautifuful but they aren't safe. Maybe for a show truck woulkd be fine but for a supercharged truck that's not a good deal.

My idea is to have something like the Ride-Rite helper springs something simple, strong and reliable. Just a big fat Firestone bag to handle the truck's weight and a solid mount, simple as that but the problem is that the Ride-Tech kits are made for trucks with stock suspensions. I hope someone can come with an idea to adapt a special mount to make it fit on the leaf springs.

DJM suggested me to go with the SH3200 Rear-Shakle Kit 1" lift, i know it will help but 1" only, won't be enough.

Item No: SH3200
Fits:
04 & up Ford F-150 - 2wd
Does Not Fit Heritage Models

Description:
This replaces your factory shackle for a 2" lift in the rear. Can be used with a flip kit or stock suspension for a 2" lift.

I just removed my complete RideTech lowering suspension, Shockwaves on the front, Airbar on the rear, RidePro, ARC4800e2 compressor.
One problem after other one, very nice, but for a daily driver it does not work, when i remember that i paid $ 6.000,00 for all of that, labor and parts, that breaks my heart. I would have invested that money in a forged short block and ported heads.

yeah those will lift you 1" but it levels out the spring which makes the srping rate softer and you most likely wont gain anything except a higher ride when unloaded, if i were you id either get the airshocks from ground force they are nothing like the shockwaves there is no bag its just like the offroad nitrogen filled shocks except uses regular air instead of nitrogen, but if you have access to nitrogen use that instead it will ride bettter, also these the worst that could happen is you loose the air pressure in the shock and your back to how it is now, nothing like what happened with your shockwaves breaking the mounting plate and bottoming out your tires on the fenders in the middle of an intersection, or option 2 get the ride rites and modify it so you can use that
