Forgive my ignorance

I want to use a synthetic oil. The question is for a filter can I use the motorcraft
FL-820S????Is there a special filter for synthetic????

Nope, use the Motorcraft filter and you'll be good!

Down here in NC you can get them from Auto Zone, Advanced Auto, Walmart, and I'm sure other places, but I have not had to go there yet.

Not to highjack the thread, but is the Fram filter good to use or should I stay with the ford? I have always used the fram filter on all my other vehicles. I also found out they make a standard and metric, which one is right????

the Motorcraft filter is fine, I would stay away from the fram.
