About to make a deal - Have questions and need help before negotiating...
Hello,
I have about four to five local dealers all trying for my business on one specific VIN # truck. The truck is at one of the five dealers, and the other four are trying to get me to commit to buying so they can trade the dealer that has it. So can I get them into a bidding war, even though one dealer has it on their lot? Or am I pretty much tied to the dealer with the truck on their lot?
The "after $3,500 rebate" price is $35,063. Do you think they will take $32,000 with $18,000 cash down for a loaded 2006 FX4, Luxury package, 6.5' 20" wheels, etc? They will bargain down even after rebates, right?
Does anyone know if you can get both $3,500 in rebates and 1.9% financing?
I can wait for a 2007 if necessary. Hell, I've been waiting two years already.
Thank You,
JSB

ive always got my best deals by ordering. you get just what you want that way, and you get the best deal. build it online and print it out and take it in ask what can u sell me this truck for? and dont let them try and sell you on some other truck at some other dealer. you never know how long its been on the lot or how its been driven. http://media.putfile.com/smoken-f-150https://www.f150online.com/galleries...w.cfm?num=9331
JSB, you should be able to get it for waaaaaaay less than 32k after rebates. Dealerships are looking to get rid of as many 2006's as possible to make room for the 2007's. I would think that they would go as low as 28 or 29k just to get the truck off the lot. Remember that rebates do not come off the dealerships bottom line, they would still be getting the equivalent to full sticker price if you only went with the rebate and no other discounts.
Good luck.
Good luck.

You can no longer order 2006 models and I seriously doubt you would be able to get a good deal on a 2007 until at least the middle of the model year. But if your willing to wait and ordering is what you want to do than go for it.
Hmmm. 28 or 29k, Okay I'll start there

Thanks for that info, roushlimited. I'll lower my starting price to 28k.

Around here, Northeast of Atlanta, they are advertising $9000 off MSRP for the F-150's and Superdutys. The $9000 off already includes the rebates.
I've seen them advertise $10,000 off msrp in the past and probably will again as we get closer to year-end. I bought my F-150 Lariat during a $10,000 off msrp sale in December of 2004.

Believe it or not, most dealers are not totally stupid. There is usually only one person in charge of inventory and/or dealer trades. If they get calls from every local dealer trying to get one truck, they may decide not to let it go as they know someone is out to just get the best price.
You can go to Edmunds, KBB or other sites and get the invoice price and all of the holdback , rebate and incentive information to get you close to real dealer cost. Then pick one other dealer that has the best service department, customer service, location etc that is important to you and have them quote the truck to you.
Everyone wants the best deal they can get, but spending a few hundred one way or another on a $30K + truck is not as big a deal as getting poor service after the sale. Not having to deal poor customer service and an ignorant service department is priceless if you have a problem with the truck.

My advice would be to start from invoice price (including options) and work down from there. The sticker means nothing...at all...ignore it.
When I got my truck I paid Invoice - $100 plus all the rebates.
I could have gotten another 800 or so less according to the salesman if I really pushed it but in general I got a good deal and was happy with it.
That was 2 years ago. With more inventory and rising gas prices you are in a better position than I was.
Good luck.

Yea you can do way better. I got my 05 this past january. Lariat supercrew msrp was 41,700. I had fleet pricing with rebates is came down to 33,000. I started neg from there. I keep shopping between the dealers untill Koons ford sold it to me for 33,400 out the door with these add-ones. Dual headrest dvd players, soft snapless Bed cover, Linex bed liner 5 year warrenty and a 3 year service plan the every 3k oil change service. I just saw today on tv that ford is loosing even more in the suv market. With gas cost I'm sure that want to move these trucks and suvs. Goodluck
06 Lariat 4x4 SCrew. In March I got 600 below invoice then took off the rebates. I thought I did pretty good, but after reading some of your prices I feel slightly cheated. If I remember correctly msrp was 41500 and after rebates, tax (6.25%), tag, and title I walked away at 35800. Oh well, guess I will know better next time.

Hello everyone,
Well, I've put my starting price out there at $28,000 for a loaded FX4 that MSRP's at $43,230 (sticker). The best email response back I've received today from a dealer that doesn't have it on their lot, but would have to trade for it, said this:
"The ABSOLUTE best price I can get you on the black truck would be $34,314 after rebates."
And another dealer response was this:
"The incentive for buying an '06 over an '07 is higher rebates, there's no other incentives that allow a dealer to cut prices more than any other time of the year. To sell that truck for $28,000 would be a true loss of about $5,800 (ouch). You can verify this info online. So, it would seem we might want to go back to the '07 order. Do you agree?"
Neither of these dealers have the truck on their inventory/lot. Tomorrow morning I have an appointment with the dealer that does have it on their lot. I drove the truck last night and liked it. And I made sure that it would fit in the garage too. So do you think that my starting price of $28,000 is good? And where should I stop and walk out, in today's truck buying climate. (My area is Portland, Oregon, if that helps any.)
I have not problem waiting for late availability 2007 FX4 luxury edition, as it was only last week that I started considering MY end 2006 dealer inventory over my plan all along to buy a 2007. Any feedback will be appreciated.
I'm really glad you people are here to help me out with this.
Thanks,
JSB

No Deal - Loaded FX4 - $30,000 with 7 yr/100,000/0 deductible
Well maybe it was just this particular dealer, or my area, but they wouldn't deal to me on my final offer of $30k with 7 yr/100,000/0 deductible extended warranty. Even with $18k down, $3,500 in rebates, and considering their financing. So I walked out.
Oh, well now I can wait for my original plan to buy an 07 with power folding and maybe Ford Navigation, although I sure like the Eclipse Navigation better. 2007 FX4 Luxury package is late availability, so maybe I'll make my next deal at Christmas.
Thanks,
JSB
