At highway speeds, about 40-45 degrees on max is excellent, although depending on ambient temps and how hot it is inside the cab, most trucks will normally get to high 40s/low 50s. For comparison's sake, my truck cools to about 42-44 degrees at the vents with the system set at 60 degrees, recirculate, and the fan on high. With the fan on low on a long highway trip, I can purposely make the system freeze up.

So why does efans work make it better?

More airflow across the condenser helps the system cool better.

I would also like to know the answer to that question. And, just HOW MUCH better do the efans make it? I'm considering efans solely because of the a/c issue, not because of vehicle power/performance. If I got efans for the purpose of the a/c, would I be disappointed?

I would think that with e-fans you are moving more air across the condenser coil. Therefore you are removing more heat and dropping the head pressure, which would make it cool better.

Yeah, that makes sense... But is the difference significant enough to justify the cost of the efans? In other words, do the people with efans NOT complain about their a/c not being cold?

I've got the same problem on my 05. When I had it in for the last oil change i told them about it and they said that everything was within spec. It has to be on Max A/C and on level 4 to keep it cool, not cold. I can turn it down to a 2 at night but even still its only cool. My 10 year old open top jeep blows colder air from startup with no top on in the middle of July than my truck does. It is quite rediculous that this many people would have a problem and nothing can be done about it.

I took mine in yesterday for the 4th time for this same problem. I took it to a different dealership this time. They called me back at about lunch time and told me there was nothing wrong with it. This really pisses me off because I paid 30 f'ing thousand dollars for this truck and the air doesn't cool right. It never gets cold only cool. My brother's GMC Sierra will freeze the ***** off a polar bear and mine won't get cold for anything.

We can't get it to do like you are saying, the dealership says. I'm like M'Fer take it out and ride in traffic for about 5 days in a row and you will see what I mean. This is absolute Bull$h1t. I just don't know what else to do. It has been 105 degrees here the past 5 days and it is miserable without A/C especially sitting in Dallas traffic with a half@ss working air conditioner.

I love my truck but I am at my whits end.

if all goes as planned I'll LYK in about a week or so.... have my e-fans in sometime next week.......mine seems to work fine once I hit the freeway....but sitting in traffic is marginal at best... hopefully the e-fans will help....

I wish I had my EFANS now. Its been 100+ for the last few days in KC. I had to move in 100+ heat and it was hot. When i got in my truck, It took about 20 minutes for it to get cooler. It was on the highway when it started getting cooler. I hate the A/C in our trucks in stop and go traffic. Kind of like the Honda 4 bangers ive had in the past.

Tell me about it. My '99 would freeze your ***** off. Same with my buddy's '01. I'm gravely dissappointed with Ford on this issue.

I just put a set of E-fans on my 05 and it makes the A/C very cold real fast!, the fans are worth it to me just for that!

How do the efans help the AC?
Do they move more air through the engine compartment? That's the only thing that makes since to me.

the E-fans move more twice the air through the condenser coils as that stock fan, thats why your A/C sucks in traffic and works good at HWY speed

Is "E-fans" the brand name? Are they made specifically for this truck? How much are they? Where are they? My 04 has had sucky AC since I bought it, I'll try these E-fans if I can find 'em.

Never mind.. My stupidity, I got off my lazy butt and looked behind the shroud. OMG, I thought this thing had electric fans, but there in front of my eyes.. Sent me back to the 50's, cripes...

Oh, and FX4 Matt, I checked out your photos of the install, looks good. What kind of temp sense, or setpoint, does it trigger both fans, or just as needed?
