Hauling Capacity
Hauling Capacity
I have a 06, 4.6 Screw, If I were to drop the rear 2 inches with shackles, would this reduce my towing capacity? I'm debating wether to drop it or not since I tow a 24 foot boat about every other weekend.
Thanks for the help guys.

The olny issue you would have is suspension travel and it bottoming out oon the stops. Look under your truck, measure distance between the stops and the springs, when parked on level ground. Check again after hooking up your boat. I'm sure the suspension will settle a bit. Measure again. This will give you an idea what the rear springs compress with the boat attached. Subtract two inches. This will give you an after lowered idea. That will be how much suspension travel you will have following the drop.
Post that measurement here, I'm sure some of the guys that have lowered their trucks have an idea what the minimum distance is needed for travel.

What he can't measure is how much suspension travel is going on (stock)while towing the boat.
The stops may come into play (often) with shackles where they never did before.
24 is a lot of boat.
But, you can always remove them if it doesn't please you.

You might have to get a different sized stinger (piece with ball mounted to it) to make your boat trailer tow "level" after your truck adjustments. That is, if your truck is lowered your "drop" on the stinger might be different in order to keep trailer level with ball.
