Yeah it was fun. Wasted some bait and drank a few cervezas. Watched the kids play and all that stuff.

The beaches there are like the main drag. You can drive the whole length of the island practically. And I have a 2wd. We keep the beach stuff in the truck and drive there from the condo every day. Piece of cake.

Id like to take my truck to the beach, but there are none out here except for lakes and that could get a big sticky. Hows the truck handle in the sand?

It handles pretty well with the expected wiggles caused by the sand. The sand there is packed pretty well and they have bulldozers and road scrapers(?) that maintain the integrity of the sand as well as ridding the beach of seaweed that floats up this time of year. The sand is loose in places, just don't slow down too much. Where it's more packed I got up to 40 mph. Mostly in the 20's though.

I missed my beach permit by 2 weeks. Good thing because some bird laid eggs on the beach and they closed that section.

Where did you stay? The bulldozers usually go out every morning during the summer and drag all the trash away. So it is REALLY packed. Plus there are police out the wazoo and they even take radar since the speed limit is like 15 or 20 I think. I love fish tailing when going in or out of the beachgates!

Port Royal condo in Port Aransas. The beach access road is like 2-3 miles from the condo and the time of day we get to the beach there aren't too many people out and there are LONG stretches of open beach. The goons usually lay donuts and ruin the ride, so it gets bumpy sometimes.
