Great gas mileage I think!!!

I had to run up to Los Angeles today so I filled the truck up and drove up & back today. It was a total of 347.4 miles. I went back to the same gas station and pump and filled it up again and it only used 19.61 gallons, so that comes out to 17.715 MPG.

I had about 4 hundred pounds of metal in the bed and was driving 75 MPH with the A/C on and stuck in traffic about 15% of the time.

The only mods I have are, Gibson exhaust, Drop in K & N filter and a RollBaK Tonneau cover.

I think that’s pretty darn good for a 55 hundred pound Truck with only 2000 miles on it!!!!!!!!!!!!

The first road trip I took with my 05, I got 17.5 mpg.

After all my mods:

Airaid Jr.
Flowmaster si/do
EDGE tuner

And I still get 17.5 mpg.

But it sounds better and runs a whole lot better.

Best I ever got was 19.1 mpg on an 1800 round trip to albuequqe, nm and back with the cruise set at 75.

Stock 4.6 (at the time)
Reg cab
4x2

I say congrats on your mileage. I havent had anything that would be 17 since that trip, and i have magnaflow on the truck now. But i havent had a trip like that since then either.

I think it did around town. Don't see any difference on the highway.

I gotta thank my low final gear ratio, I'm getting 22.5mpg now. I have gotten this 3 times in the past week or so and the highway it's on is not perfectly level (both up and down...maybe 2% grade). No highway mileage change going to 37's if this mileage keeps up...must be the heat. This is traveling @ and around 55mph, fun.

Did about 750 mile round trip to Vegas and Arizona. Cruise set at 90 most of the time. Some runs over 100mph. Stop and go on the Vegas strip.
A/C on the whole time, needed it as it was between 105 and 116 during the trip
Averaged 16.5 for the whole trip. I was amazed.
Did the same trip in our Infiniti FX35 and averaged 17.5.

List of mods below that I believe helped with MPG. Particularly the tonneau cover.
I do a lot of mix freeway stop and go, some city driving on my daily 70 mile commute. Average between 16 and 16.5 consistantly.

Looks like on the average most are getting good gas mileage. For those of you getting 14 MPG, OUTCH that would be and average of 90 miles less per tank full May be you just have a bigger foot then I do But my wife's happy with me

I towed my 4 thousand pound travel trailer from San Diego to Yosemite two week ago and averaged 10.33 MPG and that was doing 70 MPH. I was happy with that!

You know you are getting bs'ed when someone tells you their 5.4 gets 20 mpg in the city.. Me, I got 15 on the last tank, with mixed city/hwy driving. I'm happy with that, it kills my old V-10's 10 mpg.. Has any 2006 owners installed a cia yet? With the new filter housing it looks like they'll have to make a bunch of changes to the cai kits.
