Exclamation Brake Problem????

today i was drivign on a back road (its open on certain days as a entrance to a maintenence area) and back there lives a family and there dog jumps out in front of cars and i almost hit it today....i braked hard and i felt a very noticeable shudder in the brake pedal as well throughout the front end. i also braked somewhat hard today at a quick changing yellow to red light and it shuddered the same way...

what could this possibly be? my truck is due for a oil change so when i go to ford ill ask them about it but any help?

I think that's the ABS working.

i've noticed that shuddering too in my f150. methinks there is a TSB to repair/warranty some of the 04-05s. i haven't been in to have mine checked out but it's on my "to do list".

Don't forget your truck weighs upwards of 5000 lbs.

sounds like the ABS kicked in, it prevents you from completely locking up and sliding out of control. If it only did those 2 times you braked really hard, then it's the ABS. If it does it all the time, then your rotors are warped.

Definitely sounds like the ABS to me, if you were trying to avoid hitting a dog I'm sure you were probably braking pretty hard.

It's the ABS don't worry about it. These trucks buck ALOT when it kicks in, especially when the rear wheels start pumping.

k thanks guys....

another thing im going to get checked out is my throttle...its response has changed dramatically in the past month or so.

twice in the last 2 weeks have i been at a standstill waiting to make a left turn then i get a chance...i press the throttle about 1 inch-1.5 inches and 2 seconds later the truck finally responds and moves.

also in my 65-75 mph range ill press the throttle a good inch or so and it will react....jsut very diligently...which it never use to be like..

i think the cable needs to be tightened up

Uuummm...no cable on these trucks it's drive by wire. Go to the dealer and have a PCM reflash done.
