Looking for specific pic 05/06 F150 leveled & 285’s

Looking for specific photo: 05/06 F150 leveled & 285’s

My truck: 2006 F150 Extra Cab Lariat 4wd White

I’m trying to decide if I should spend $600 to put new rugged trails back on or go with 18x9 Procomp 1069’s, 285x65-18 BFG A/T ‘s and a daystar kit for a little over $2000.

Some pics and answers would go a long way toward helping me make my decision.

Questions

1- I think the stock rims are stuffed to far inboard but I don’t want the tires sticking way out either. What backspace should I be looking for? In an ad for 4wheelparts.com they have a picture of a F150 in the Explorer ProComp leveling kit ad. If you have seen that ad that’s the look I want.
2- Has anybody had problems with Explorer Procomp wheels? My first choice was Mickey Thompson wheels but they are only available in 18x10.

Thanks
Jeff

Hard to tell from the pics.....do the wheels seem to narrow from the rear?

thanks for the pic

You didnt happen to mount the 285's before the autospring did you? It almost looks like I would be good running without the AS. Not that your truck looks bad but the 285's just dont fill out the wheel wells like I would have expected.

No wheels don't seem narrow, but yes, I did mount the tires before the AS. Next go round I will get a bigger tire.

the 2.5 kit will make the truck sit higher. trust me i know from experience and spending extra money on my truck to find out. if you want your truck level go with the 2 inch kit. I have a question. how do you guys think 285s would look ona 9 inch wheel with about 8 inches of lift. gas is killing me commuting for grad schoo.

To all of you runnin 285's have you seen a significant drop in mileage or ride quality?

HotBlue, I'm not a big fan of chrome but your truck looks pretty darn good, a nice classic look, LT handles would really add a nice touch.

But he does have tool boxes in the back and that may be part of the reason its lower also depending how much weight is in the back. Food for thought. Later.

Thanks, Tinted windows is next and then hopping to install the LT handles
As for mileage lost a little but no real ride change just drove hauling my camp trailer 774 miles about half the time was with out trailer and got about 11.5 miles a gallon. happy with the truck
