Hi all, new to this bb, also just bought a new F 150 about 3 weeks ago!

Just wanted to say hello, and check in. I just bought my brand new F150 supercrew(I hate calling them a screw btw) Lariat with a 6.5' bed. I have been online with the other bb site (fte) and posted a lot there. However this site seems to have more info on the F150 so I decided to become a member. 1st I am looking to get that Mustang V-8 sound in my truck. Has anyone managed to get close to it yet? I found a couple of factory cobra mufflers and thought about an x pipe and doing true duals. I have a 5.4 too btw. I may just end up going the cheap route and just stick a fm 40 on (siso). Any thoughts and opinions appreciated. Also since I live in Austin, TX I was planning on that meet in Granger, is that still on? I was hoping someone there would have an aftermarket exhaust that I could listen to 1st hand...

I had that on my 1997 F150 it was a gibson supertruck kit with dual side out in front of the rear tire. It was ok, but I really want to get that Mustang GT sound. I really need to hear some different setups in person and then decide. I used to have a Mustang GT and I can hear their unique sound instantly.

I am in SA, TX and will be there hopefully!! I have a 18" magnaflow SI/SO dumped at the axle... I like it alot, but sometimes wish it was louder, but like the throaty low rumble it makes...

Welcome to the board and congrats on your new purchase, I'm sure you'll love it as much as we all love ours, I have a couple of buddies with the Magnaflow exhaust on their F-1's and it sounds really great, you should be able to go to some of the manufacturers websites and listen to examples of what the exhaust will sound like. Try Magnaflow.com or flowmaster.com you should be able to hear something you like.

I already do! You guys have a lot more info on mods and stuff that I'm interested in. That other site is more for F-250s and 350s.

You say you want that mustang V8 sound. I don't think a couple of cobra mufflers is going to do that for you. The stock mustang exhaust is actually quite calm. If you have ever heard a mustang a liked the sound of it, it most likely had an X or H pipe and a catback exhuast using one of the following mufflers:

Flowmaster
Magnaflow
Bassani
Borla

Those are the 4 big names in mustang exhaust. I know magnaflow has a really nice set up for the F150. Thats also the catback I have on my mustang. Really good quality.

You aren't going to get the exact sound from a mustang. The reason for this is the different size in engine, and that the GT has 2 valve heads and the cobra has 4 valve heads. Your truck has the 3 valve heads.

Yea I used to have a GT, it had factory headers and H pipe and duals. I loved the way it sounded, and it was completely stock. I know I cant get that exact sound, but should be able to get close to it. The other sound that I could go for is the pace car from the Champcar WS series. It's a Mustang also, but has a bigblock sound, it may be a magnaflow setup, not sure but it's got a real deep tone to it. I can't believe no one has tried an x pipe with duals, or does that kill low end torque?
