Angry Digital odometer not lighting up?

I've got an 06 XLT and the digital odometer/compass/thermometer/etc dies - I mentioned it to my dealer when I brought it in to get the instrument cluster recalibration recall done, they did the recall but said they quote "couldn't verify the problem" with the display. It's got just over 5000 miles on it, so I'm thinking I'm gonna bring it to the other dealer down the street and make somebody fix it while (I'm ASSUMING) it's still under warranty. Anybody else had this problem, where the display just conks out?

TIA

I haven't heard of this either. Although I know for a fact that they should do something about it with only 5000 miles on it. It's definately still under the factory warranty. I wouldn't be satisfied until they fixed it, period!

Hmm, so it's just me

Yeah, I'm gonna take it down to the other dealer and demand that SOMEBODY fix it. I'll update what was wrong when they fix it. Not if, when

Is it just the cluster not lighting up, or does the whole odometer, compass, temp gauge, etc... not function either? Either way they need to fix it for you, but if it's those other functions as well, it might be a bigger problem.

Speak to the Service Mgr. If they won't fix it, find another dealer.

Yeah I have this same issue and mentioned it here without help....

You two seem to be the only other ones I know that has reported this issue.

Anyway it is the bulb, you can take out your cluster and replace it very easy.
Here is the part number for the bulb.... YL3Z-13B765-DA

Hope this helps.... good luck.

On mine, it burned out while I was doing an alarm install. The door was open and shut all night causing the light to go off and on for hours.
The next day it was burned out....

Was it a constant thing, or did the display go in and out? Mine will work fine one minute, flicker, then not work, and go back and forth like this all day. Was this the problem you fixed with that bulb? Sounds like a bad solder and I'm hoping that's not the case, although if it is the dealer's gonna do it for free anyways, so actually I don't care

Thanks for the replies

Kind of sounds like to me to be a intermittantly faulty dimmer switch, be sure to post what they find I am curious to know

My bulb went out too, can't read the odometer at night. Anyone got a link or a step-by step process for changing this bulb?
