5.4 Throttle body clean

Has anyone tried doing a throttle body cleaning on the 2004 5.4 motor??

Ford STRONGLY advises against using any type of solvents to clean the throttle body. There's a special coating on the manifold side that prevents excessive carbon buildup. Cleaning can remove this coating and cause more problems then you were trying to avoid. It should only be touched if you start having idle or driveability problems.

What exactly do you mean by a "throttle body cleaning?"

The dealer recmmends a 30,000 mile sercice which includes a "Throttle Body Service". What does this service entail? Anyone know? Quintin?

It's my understanding that this is just a visual inspection to check for excessive carbon buildup. If the engine idles/drives fine they will leave it alone.
