If Only You Could Have Ordered This Truck...

I was flipping through my latest "Hemming's Muscle Machine" magazine and read several articles about guys who ordered cars back in the day. I was amazed at how many different ways you could get a car set-up back then!

It made me think of when I ordered my '05 F-150 and how many compromises I had to make to my "dream" truck.

So, if you could order your F-150 today, and set it up exactly as you wished using only the normal features and options that are available on the current varieties of F-150's, what would you order?

Here would be mine:

- XLT 4x2
- Standard Cab - Short Box configuration
- 5.4 L Engine
- Automatic transmission with the shifter lever located in a flow-thru center console *
- Leather interior *
- Upgraded instrument cluster as found in the FX4's and/or Lariat's *
- Rear Window Defrost
- Fog Lamps
- Rear Cargo Storage Unit
- Power Folding Mirrors *
- Body-Colored Wheel Lip Moldings *

* = Features that were not available on my truck when it was ordered in 2005.

I'm really only missing power folding mirrors, the FX2 grill and wheels, navigation and home link and I think my '06 Lariat would have been perfect. But then, I might not have wanted to change it and make it more "my own".

The only thing that I couldn't get was the volume control for the wife when I'm driving in heavy traffic.

I have everything the Lariat comes with except for power passenger seat (have driver), heated seats and rear parking sensors (need these with a lifted truck). Also, I do not have "power memory seats" but they are power. However, the entire top half where your back rests is still manual, the chair only slides by power. Do the power seats with memory positions have the backrest power as well? How much is this option if so.

I wish I had the chrome bumper with fog lamps on my '05! Just like in SnowmaNick's pic.

The only options my truck didn't come with that I wanted are:
1.Painted fender flares
2.Painted doorhandles

I found some OEM painted Lariet fender flares and installed them, now I just need to get some painted door handles or LT handles.
Other than that I'm content with what I got.I'm a simple man,I don't need all kinds of fancy gizmos and gadgets.
