All kinds of probs after alarm install, help!
Hey everyone. I have a 2006 lariat and had a TRC autostart/paging alarm installed on the truck today. On the drive home I noticed some issues and want to be able to point the shop in the right direction when they go to fix them on Monday as I am a little leary of their expertise on this platform.
The problems are:
When the headlights are on the rear turn signals and driver's mirror turn signal do not work. They work fine with the headlights off.
When I apply my brakes my dome lights dimly turn on and then they will flash with the turn signals. This is with the headlights on or off. I verified that the dome lights are not actually pushed to the "on" postion.
When my hazards are on my defrost button flashes in synch.
After I put the truck into reverse the reverse sensors won't stop sending signals when anything is approaching the back of the truck (VERY annoying in L.A. traffic)
With the headlights on the brake lights don't work, both regular and 3rd.
I am going to take the truck back on Monday but am a little steemed and am hoping everyone that has more experience on the electrical on these can give me some pointers.
As always, thanks in advance.

WTF? How can some one mess up installign somthing THAT bad. Holy cow. Its kinda funny, If I had your truck id be having a blast driving, the dome lights flickering with turn signals and all that other crazy jazz.
If I were you I would not drive the truck...You may run the risk of Fing up the electrical system or even the PCM I think its called?? AKA the computer

Was this a professional installer? If so, make sure you post their name so others can avoid them. They obviously have some issues...My first thought would be if you can get to the brain of the system, unplug it until you can get it back to the shop. The only problem with that is they probably cut the ignition wire to provide the starter kill option.
If you pull the main box of the alarm, and the truck won't turn over, that's the case. If you're brave enough to dig into it, pull the lower steering column shroud section. On the left of the column, you'll see a connector with a handful (5 or 6 I think) of large gage wires heading into it. If one of those has been cut, all you'll need to do is get the two ends reattached to bring the starting back to normal.
The reason I think you should pull the box is that with the amount of interaction you have described, it's pretty obvious that they have multiple bad connections, with possible reversed polarity as well. I'd be afraid or doing damage if you turn on the correct combination of accessories.
Did you pay by credit card? If so, and it was my truck, they would be removing every trace of that system and refunding my card 100%. I wouldn't trust them for a minute to troubleshoot something that they had this much trouble installing.

it would actually be fairly simple to screw up that bad. It sounds like two incorrect wires, possibly three. Some of the the newer vehicles piggyback there grounds for lighting systems and such(at least on the swith side of things) So if something like a door trigger is is tapped for the domelight supervision w/out diode isolating it you may have some issue. Also if the turn signals were tapped instead of the parking lights. Either way, it should have never left the shop in that condition and the installer definitely need to hear the POP....I mean the sound of removing his head from his ***!!! My two cents...for what its worth. I actually installed for about 7 years professionally and wrote 30 or so technical papers for DEI( Viper) back in the day.
did they not even bother testing it before they gave it back to you. I'd be real careful Nick I would hate to see some crossed wires start your truck on fire.

I think they tapped into a common ground causing the dome lights to come on, but the reverse sensors and why the brake lights/turn signals have issues with the headlights is still confusing me. Ticks me off as now I have to drop the truck off for at least one more day to get things done that should already be done.
As for the name of the shop, I don't want to bash anyone just yet. The owner of the shop called me and personally appologized and promised me it will be taken care of on Monday and he will refund the install cost as now I don't feel safe driving the truck over the weekend.
Seems like I have had the truck sitting more than moving lately.
Who else knows electrical? I really want to know what to tell them to take care of.

Good luck.
Damn, seems like a inexperienced installer. If I were you I would no go back to that shop. I would take it elsewhere and have it diagnosed. I dont know if you have many shop options though. Ask around and see who is well known for their quality of work. I personally think your asking for trouble by going back there.
