Slight Steering wheel wobble??

While driving if I let go of the steering wheel the truck drives straight as anarrow, but the wheel shimmies a little. I am going to take it on the highway this weekend to see if it gets worse at higher speeds. It didn't do this stock, so I am guessing it is due to the widder tires and them "gripping" the road more? Should I take it back to the tire place and have them rebalanced?

Thanks for your help!!

with the wider tires it will do that slightly, wider tires tend to follow grooves of the road more. if it is bad i would take it back but very slightly is normal i would say.

I'm wondering if you have Pirelli's.Mine have been doing the same thing since new. They have been balanced 3 times and still no help.Only 5,300 miles on my 06 Screw. Also it does not matter if the road has rain grooves or not.

I had the same problem for a while until i took it to a tire shop that deals in 20's and larger tires and now it is much better.

A SLIGHT wobble at highway speeds is okay, you have to remember this is a 5000+ lbs vehicle and its a truck. Unless your steering wheel is going all over the place, expect some slight wobble.

You could go to a tire shop that does a road force balance, that in my opinion is the best type of balance for oversized wheels and tires

Nebraska, I have your exact problem, but I have the 17" General's with only 4500 on them. Tire's are starting to "cup" or "feather" as one tire dealer has called it. I wonder if its an alignment issue or an out of balance tire?
