Mine did the same when new, but give it some miles for the computer to figure out your average and it gets more accurate. My MPG also sucked until about 10k miles...after which it got better (not great, but better). When the message center says 0 miles to empty..I typically get 26 gallons in it (27 gal tank). Yes, I do this often. I don't believe the fuel pump is going to meltdown wive's tale for a minute. I've always run them to empty and never had a problem. 14k on this one now, and I can say without question I've never filled the tank before the computer was saying less than 20 to empty....and likely never will. I aim for 0 to empty on each tank, but sometimes you just don't know where that next station will be.

Triple A Plus is awesome, give me some gas!

Lol, does Ford Roadside assist. do the same?

I did this for the first time today just because I knew there was a gas station that's @ 20 cents cheaper near my school than near my house. I made it around 15 miles past '0 miles to empty', but I sure was sweating it those last couple miles. (literally, I turned off the AC just to squeeze out as much as I could!) Could have been my imagination but I swear I felt a few studders there towards the end...
